A man who authorities say was trying to steal a catalytic converter from a truck in Palmdale is dead after being run over by the driver of that truck.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Tuesday at a shopping center parking lot in the 39000 block of 10th Street West, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities say a car with four suspects inside pulled up to the lifted 4×4 Ford Excursion, and one of them got out to saw off the vehicle’s catalytic converter.
A woman was sleeping inside the truck and heard the noises and thought someone was breaking in. She started the engine and put the car in reverse gear. When she felt a bump, she got out and called 911 after she saw a man on the ground.
Responding deputies detained the three other suspects, another man and 2 women. The suspect that was struck was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

I saw something about Trump exploring suggesting that firing squads be brought back. If it were in conjunction with applying it to individuals who call anyone on the “no call list” and converter thieves that sounds to me like a winning platform in and of itself.

The last excursion rolled off the assembly line in 2005, so that cat was at least 18 years old, and probably had most of its platinum depleted. Most savvy cat thrives target Prius because their converters get relatively little wear. Although meth heads are by nature, stupid. Having a 12” lift made the excursion an attractive target, , in spite of the drawbacks.

I heard that Toyota Tacoma has four cats on it, it’s a gold mine for the thieving rats.
I do like the idea of welding some steel plates to the exhaust to protect them, stainless steel would be even better. It’s a mother to cut and it can be welded to the steel.
