Corey was a typical 16 year-old kid. He met a girl, 16, and like an idiot he decided to record a sexual episode he had with her on his phone.
It was all audio. The image was so dark, nothing could be seen.
The girl heard a rumor that Corey played it for some friends. She was humiliated and told the principal.
What happened next led to Corey jumping to his death.
The school is being sued for the ridiculous way they handled the incident.
Oh God, what a terrible story.
The lesson here is that you dont record sexual encounters without permission and males over 20 pounds cant fly.
Parents never called, police, resource nazi?
Then let go?
There would be blood shed.
Oh phuck yeah.
Another good reason to not allow kids before the age of 18 to be given these damn phones.
The kid was unstable
For crying out loud: Kids are exposed to every perversion and told it’s normal. The concept of chivalry is unknown. Intimacy is reduced to mutual masturbation performed for the social network. It’s a wonder more kids aren’t jumping off parking decks.
It was his ‘first time’, according to the article–but was it the girl’s also? At that age, girls are a bit mature…enough said.
So kids are bombarded with sexual imagery, instructed about putting on condoms, taught perversion is normal, taught abortion is a birthright, any lifestyle choice is perfectly acceptable, that being a virgin is abnormal, and the school’s response to this kids first offense is to SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF HIM with trumped-up child pornography claims?! They can’t even get him on rape since it was consensual and they are so close in age. And if she consented to being recorded, they’ve got NOTHING! If I were the parents there would be hell to pay.
This is no less than a tragedy on many levels. Regardless of well intentioned parents many teenagers are going to experiment sexually without understanding the ramifications. Recording on the cell phone was TOTALLY foolish and disrespectful of the girl who will now be both stigmatized and traumatized for the rest of her life. The school administrators overreacted and should have contacted the parents before the police. The police overplayed their hand when they threatened the boy with charges of “child pornography” and listing him as a “sex offender” thus sabotaging his entire future. Because he was a good kid this perfect storm of consequences drove him to end his life. Nothing but losers here. Hopefully everyone involved will learn a lesson.
sounds like the kids in public school are using the full spectrum of “resources” provided by the “educators”.
sex education
homosexual normalization training
the A/V or video club
school counselors
school police officers
willing female teachers
suicide prevention initiatives
sad nothing about reading or writing going on in schools.
“Don’t lose your head over a piece of ass.”
(punch line to an old joke about a caterpillar)
Sad for the boy’s family.
Poor judgment all around.
“In my day, nice girls didn’t DO that …”
izlamo delenda est …
I am actually on the schools side. They were correct, having a video of a 16 year old having sex IS considered child pornography, and COULD subject him to prosecution. He DID need to think about the consequences of his actions. He was unstable and offed himself, but that is not the fault of the school authorities. I wonder how the parents of the girl felt about him sharing the recording.
Solution: Destroy the recording.
The school did everything correctly. The story as written by the Chicago Trib tried to make this kid out to be a good young man who just made a mistake. Let’s review the mistake. They are both only 16 and presumably both wanted sex. He, without her knowledge or consent tried to use his phone to video the act. The only reason he only got audio was because it was too dark for video anything recognizable. He then let a few friends listen to it and let’s not muddy the waters with “allegedly” as the only way she was going to find out about what this kid did was someone told her and it sure wasn’t her paramour. She did the right thing and went to the Principal (which took guts) and the Principal did the right thing and called the cops. The cop did the right thing in telling him what the consequences of his actions could be then they notified one of the parents (Mom) to come down to the school. Would it been any different if Mom was there while the cop talked about what could happen? No, it would have made no difference at all to his subsequent actions. I’m sorry for the kid but I’m more sorry for the girl. Two things will follow her around forever now. The first is that she was recorded having sex with some kid and the second that among her peer group and the kids family and friends that she was responsible for his suicide, after all, if she had just kept her mouth shut he’d still alive. It doesn’t matter the second is bullshit it will be hung on her just the same.
Davy has it 100% correct. The kid was unstable. Was most likely a future Bill Clinton type.
Something serious was missing from home…why were the parents not aware of his mental state? Why had no one taught this boy about respect and honor? Why was this girl so desperately needy? It all starts at home–home is the first place we begin to learn our moral foundation.
No good can ever come from video recording your self having sex
No smart phones for kids <18. I have 'n' friends who have told me that smart phones in the hands of their teenagers were driving them up the wall. The kid gets a ghetto burner for calls and texts only — no camera, no video recorder, none of that crap. I am glad those things weren't around back in my day 350 years ago. and get off my lawn
