Child Asks Father To Assist in “Paintball” Drive-By, He Stupidly Agrees

WCJB-

Thinking his home was under attack, a Florida homeowner says he shot and wounded a 10-year-old whose father had driven him to participate in a drive-by shooting with a paintball gun.

Opa-locka police say 26-year-old Michael Williams agreed to his son’s request to drive by the home Sunday night and let his son fire his paintball gun.

According to a police report, the homeowner mistook it for gunfire and fired back.

The child was further injured in the confusion and run over by the van.

Williams is charged with child neglect with great bodily harm.

It’s unclear if he has retained an attorney who could comment on the charge.

MiamiHerald-

Police say a 10-year-old boy approached his father with an unusual request: Could he take him to do a drive-by shooting in Opa-locka with a paint gun? The father, 26-year-old Michael Williams, agreed, detectives say.

Williams’ van pulled up to the house on the 2300 block of Rutland Street, and the boy began to shoot paint balls into the crowd, where some other young people were gathering in the front yard. But the resident, Gregory Barns, believed “he and his family were under attack” — and squeezed off one round with a real gun, wounding the boy on Sunday night, according to police.

Yeah, the family that does drive-by shooting together, uhh … something …

How does one confuse a paint-ball sound from a gunshot?

  2. It isn’t the color of the man’s skin, it is the fact that he is straight up ghetto.

I have a friend who kicked his 19 year old son out of his home for walking across a crosswalk with “friends” while slowing to a snail’s pace and smirking at drivers. His wife’s coworker had it on his dash cam and when dear ‘ol dad saw it he explained to the son that it is that type of behavior that gives people the impression that no one in his home is going to be giving anyone.

The son, who was going to junior college, was able to return home after a few months on his own and had written a heart felt apology to his father for disgracing the family, who happened to be a CSM at Ft Lewis.

That was ten years ago and the son is as good as gold and has been since. This man also told his kids to never complain about any white person applying a racial epithet to them that they and their friends were directing toward each other constantly.

  3. @Tim

My cousin has a $1000 paintball gun. It can sound like a suppressed .22 cal. I’m not sure about suppressors in Florida, but it looks like the homeowners response was reasonable enough that he did not get charged.

Up here you can get in serious shit with a sling shot. (not kidding)
