Chinese Pro-gun ownership tourists flock to U.S. firing ranges

In China, even toy guns can land you in jail.

In gun-taboo China, tourism to U.S. firing ranges grows.

“The Chinese government took away people’s guns to prevent them rising up,” said Zhou Xiaozheng, a sociologist at Renmin University. “Do you think they would be able to demolish peoples’ homes if they hadn’t?” he said, referring to the government’s broad right to seize private property.

14 Comments on Chinese Pro-gun ownership tourists flock to U.S. firing ranges

  1. We had some employees from our chinese factory visit us in the states. We took them to the skeet range and let them have some fun. After a while they got the knack. One of them said he was in the chinese army for two years and never fired a gun. He practiced with wooden replicas. They sure sound like a real military threat…

  2. It’s not just the Chinese. A buddy of mine is U.S. Sale Manager for a Swedish medical device manufacturer. Anytime he has Swedes in town they want to go shoot guns. Especially the women.

  3. Had a British girlfriend who was brought up to fear and disapprove of guns.

    Took her to the range.

Her face after firing her first six shots (.22 Ruger revolver) was priceless.

    Instant convert.

  4. It would be interesting to take a little “poll” with different nationalities at U.S. shooting ranges. Offer them their choice of targets with caricature faces of, for example, historical figures such as Marx, Lenin, Mao, Ho, Hitler, Mussolini, and, for balance Washington and Jefferson. Maybe some contemporary political figures as well. I’d like to see which ones are most popular to shoot to shreds.

  5. Never underestimate an enemy.
    But:
The Chinese haven’t fought an actual shooting war since 1945 (or 1953).

Crony contracts, corruption, pay for play are deeply ingrained in their system.

So is profiting from selling counterfeit parts, high tech and low tech, that do not function to spec.

    That could prove surprising.

  6. Bull dozing houses? Seizing property?

prog: But the U.S. would never be like that! Now turn in your guns.

  7. The Japanese tourists that visit here love gun ranges
    also.
One of my friends that works in Japan is a weapon collector.
Japanese law has it, that only factory made edged weapons are
illegal. All of the hand made older blades are art works and
allowed to be owned, traded, and exported. He’s been collecting
    blades for literally years.

  8. Chinese gun lovers should have instant priority over muslims at the INS. In fact one Chinese gun loving immigrant should be able to bump 200 muzzies. Just kidding since muslim immigration should not be allowed to USA period. So solly, try Germany.

  9. My boss’s brother fought the Chinese in Korea – what they lacked in marksmanship they made up in numbers.
One battle (vs the South Koreans) was won by loudspeakers and screaming – not a shot was fired (at least that’s the story).

    izlamo delenda est …

  10. The Chinese soldiers in the Korean War were ruthless Killers.
Thousands of US Soldiers were killed by them!
We were Not prepared for this nor the brutal winter conditions!
