It’s time for Trump to look at the extent of damage done to the markets and the economy and decide to play real hardball with the Chinese. Nobody believes (even the dems/progs/lefties in the US and abroad) that the Chinese are telling the truth so now is the time to start repatriating key industries (pharmaceutical, medical, hi-tech etc) back to the US using massive tax incentive/penalties/tariffs to urge companies along. Take away most-favoured-nation status from Beijing until they can prove that they have earned it and drastically reduce the number of Chinese nationals into the US either on work or student visas. In normal times this would causes huge shakes in the economy, stock market as well as political problems for the President but these aren’t normal times and may actually improve his standing with the voters but start the economy back on the road to growth.
