Christie will remain as vice-chair while Mike Pence takes over the key role.
Two factors, I believe, are at play. Christie is still dealing with a scandal, Bridgegate, and there were whispers that Christie was pushing to populate the Trump team with establishment RINOs. I take this as a very good sign, that Trump is committed to surrounding himself with conservatives. It’s a move that wont be popular with Ben Howe, a NeverTrumper and a Chris Christie acolyte.
I’m with Ann Coulter on this one: this is the year that Chris Christie should be running. He’s clearly a coalition builder and a man of his word who isn’t afraid to stand up to the press and knows how to handle any fire anyone wants to throw at him. He’s exactly what we need…
In this interview Ben Howe goes on to praise Chris Christie by saying he comes closest to the Reaganesque qualities that he’s been watching out for since he was a young lad –
Ronald Reagan: Cliché? Yes. But this man was MY president. He’s the first president that I remember and every time I read something about him, hear a quote I hadn’t heard before or watch a speech by him, I gain more and more respect for him. Sure, he had his faults (ahem..Sandra Day O’Connor) but there’s one thing about him that causes him to be the gold standard of conservative politicians even to this day: He wasn’t afraid to speak truth and let the public decide for themselves what they thought of it. He was unafraid, smart, and handled the press like a master. He was brave, he was clever, and he projected the type of America that we all know in our hearts we want, have had, and can have again. It’s rare to find all of these qualities in a man that also happens to be extremely electable. And whenever a man such as this appears, even though he may yet have faults, it is our job as conservatives to lift him up, and elevate him to the presidency to lead. I hope and pray that such a man will appear again. Incidentally, if one were to appear again…I think there is a good chance he could hail from a state that rhymes with Gew Fersey.
Here, again, Howe was talking about Chris Christie. Sounds like he could be talking about Donald Trump.
Ben Howedy Dooty.
Good! Also keep globalist, neocon, “free traders” like Newt, John Bolton, Condi Rice, John Sununu, and the whole slew of these lifer establishment globalist open borders RINO insider hacks out! We need to cut back and then stop immigration — that is the issue on which Trump won IMHO. I want to see people on the transition team, and then Trump cabinet, like Jeff Sessions, Sheriff Clarke, Ann Coulter, Dave Brat, Jan Brewer, and others who understand that overimmigration has been one of our major problems, and it needs to end.
Maybe they got fed up with him eating all the donuts in the break room every day
Although Christie remains as vice chair, it’s good that Trump has taken him out of the spotlight on this important team. The wild speculation about Trump’s motives or his team members’ motives is both comic and annoying. One thing Trump seems absolutely firm on, however, is being true to his campaign promises. I’m not worried and refuse to speculate on any of it. In the vacuum of no daily campaign news, the crappy media are in overdrive. It’s still their job to demoralize Trump voters and denigrate Trump. Beware of getting sucked into their spew.
It’s hard to find a man of Christie’s – um, – “caliber”.
🙂
You mean “carriage”.
Nobody mentions that even though Christie was re-elected resoundingly he didn’t bring along 1 Republican to the NJ house or senate. Not one. He didn’t campaign for the conservative candidates (but Sarah Palin did) and, when he had the opportunity to fill a vacant senate seat to oppose radial Obama he gave it not to a conservative but to a left wing dem Cory Booker.
He hugged a Demonrat and plugged a Mormon.
Humpty Dumpty had aa great fall.
I read Christie was already trying to bring in a Bush coalition. That is not what people voted for. Christie is NOT a conservative guy and I don’t think is very loyal. He also panders shamelessly to CAIR. It was smart to keep him close during the election and even smarter to start to distance him now that DJT won.
Either Rush or Mark Levin divulged the other day that word was making the rounds that Christie was bringing in a bunch of ex-Bush and ex-Romney people for the transition. Looks like the Trump folks got wind of this and jettisoned Christie out on his fat ass. Good move, people!!
If you saw Christie’s self-serving keynote speech at the Romney nomination you should know you cannot trust Christie to put other people’s aspirations above his selfish own. Christie looks out for himself first.
And he’s not proving to be especially competent as a governor – especially compared to a Scott Walker, say.
Keep Christie away from the microphone.
And the buffet table.
I never did trust Fat Boy.
Trump shouldn’t, either.
I don’t trust anybody who can’t control their intake.
I could see Christie working behind the scenes to destroy Trump’s efforts.
Somehow I don’t think trumps going to put up with a lot of nonsense when it comes to his agenda.
