Newser – Chris Wallace of Fox News has not been shy about voicing his criticism of President Trump, and he delivered a strong rebuke Wednesday night. “I believe that President Trump is engaged in the most direct sustained assault on freedom of the press in our history,” Wallace said during a speech at the Newseum media museum in DC, reports Mediaite. His assertion was met with applause, and Wallace wasn’t done. Trump “has done everything he can to undercut the media, to try and delegitimize us, and I think his purpose is clear: to raise doubts when we report critically about him and his administration that we can be trusted.”

It’s the internet and social media that is diminishing the importance of the traditional main stream media. The “little people” now have the ability to question and fact check the assertions of national reporters. There are now numerous resources from which people can form their own opinions. Most of the mainstream outlets just parrot what the politicians – and in this case primarily the Democrats – tell them; Trump has the juevos to call the MSM out on their bias, and more politicians and citizens are jumping on board. You can fact check Trump’s statements, and most of time he’s right.
Wallace is complaining about the loss of the MSM’s exalted status in a forum where other media types are complaining about the loss of their exalted status. But the media deserves what they get, and the answer is not to whine about the fact that Amerians are skeptical of the media; but to focus on accuracy, tone down the obvious bias, and clearly state what is opinion and what is fact. Essentially, return to being reporters and journalists, and quit being shills.
Mike Wallace, unfortunately, went to his grave knowing he didn’t pull out fast enough.

Chris Wallace is such a disappointment. I remember watching Fox News Sunday years ago over coffee while Wallace acted as the panel referee as well as showing himself as a sharp interviewer who didn’t let anyone Dem or GOP, Lib or Cons off the hook. He was fair and pretty unbiased but in the last year he’s gone hard Never-Trump and biased himself against the GOP (at least the conservative ones).
