Colorado Clerk Found Guilty on Seven Counts for Trying to Protect Election Data

GP

On Monday, [Mesa County Clerk, Tina] Peters was convicted on three counts of attempting to influence a public servant and one count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation. Additionally, she faced convictions for first-degree official misconduct, violation of duty, and failure to comply with an order from the Secretary of State—each a misdemeanor, according to CPR News.

The jury found Peters not guilty on three charges: criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, and identity theft.

Peters’ defense team argued that her actions were within her authority as she sought to preserve what she believed were critical election records. Defense attorney John Case contended that there was no wrongdoing in copying hard drives, claiming that state officials intended to erase vital information during their updates.

Her sentencing is scheduled for October 3rd. More

  1. With the cost of storage being very low, why would they reuse it except to hide what is on it now?

Caynt tell who is the good guy and who the bad guys are. But its Caloforndo so…

  2. Election data should be stored and available for examination for a period of time. The IRS can go back on you for 10 years so that seems like a fair time frame….Election records stored and available for 10 years will do….

  3. this story is the best i have read about government abuse of “the People” recently. reminds me of the all the power drunk actions of mamala when she was attoney general of california. railroaded the guy who documented the selling of aborted baby parts by government and the voter passed prop 8 definition of a man and a woman versus clerk who refused to license same sex couple. california constitution says no, mamala says yes, clerk gets the shaft. this is no kind of justice, its mafia tactics.

  4. @Sippin’ Covfefe – yeah, hard disks are 10 MegaBytes that are backed up to 3-1/2″ floppy which is too slow and unreliable so the data is erased so we don’t have to worry about it. Plus we can only run 64K programs, so it’s real slow and limiting. I hope this helps. 🤡

  5. Just a little Whack-a-Mole to teach the plebes to stop questioning. Honestly, after what happened to many who made attempts to challenge the 2020 election, how many will do anything after this one? Who can afford to defend themselves against the Dems lawfare? Even if this poor woman gets off with no jail time, she has to pay lawyers and court fees, and likely some stiff fines. Her life is effectively over, as are the lives of dozens, possibly hundreds of honest citizens who did nothing illegal, and nothing the Dems had not already done in previous elections.

  6. This should force conservatives when challenging them to be much smarter to avoid their speed bumps and traps at all costs.

The liberals will getcha any way they can get away with. The J6 people fell headfirst into a trap. When Liberals open a door for you, don’t go in.
