Columbians Reject Peace Deal With FARC

The citizens of Colombia were given the opportunity to vote on the deal made by their government with the FARC  (The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) insurgent group.  They narrowly voted NO against the accord that had been hammered out after six years of negotiation.

“The outcome reveals the depth of Colombian public animosity towards the rebels, accumulated by decades of kidnappings, bombing and land seizures in the name of Marxist-Leninist revolution.”

Both sides are keeping the peace and have gone back into negotiations.  The rejected agreement required FARC members to confess their crimes and then let them go free to rejoin society.

  1. I hope Colombia finds a workable peace deal. FARC is FARC-ed up. But I can see why the Colombianos said no to the deal; after all they live right next door to Venezuela and can see the ultimate end results of Socialism when it has nothing and no other country to prop itself up via artificial means.

  2. I don’t blame them. FARC started out as your typical socialist revolutionary group and got heavily into kidnappings, murders, intimidation of civilians etc and when the much anticipated revolution failed to materialize they turned to acting as soldiers and protection for the drug cartels. Screw em, the people did the right thing and these murdering bastards need to be tracked down, tried and puniched for their crimes.

  3. The Evolution of These Things:

Protests -> Terrorism -> Civil War -> ‘Cease Fire’ -> ‘Peace Deal’ -> Terror-lutionaries become a ‘political party’ -> Rigged Elections -> Communist Police State Run by China

    Imagine a boot stamping on a human face . . . forever.
