Comedian Jon Stewart targeted Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for mockery on a recent episode of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, saying Pelosi and other members of Congress “have inside information” that they blatantly use for personal financial gain.

While working, black out periods were imposed on stock trading by management personnel for a designated period before and after some major change in policy occurred. Otherwise, we could have all profited greatly. The same should be true for members of Congress when some legislation is introduced that might have an effect on a particular company’s stock value. Unfortunately, Congress is made up of corrupt individuals – every last one of them.
As Nasty Nancy once said, “It may be unethical, but it’s not illegal.” She has a nice little nest egg for a public servant. So do most of the other parasites in Congress.
I have thought that anyone in Congress and their immediate families should be restricted to blind mutual funds where they don’t have any say in the specific stocks in those funds
