Amy Coney Barrett, a federal appeals court judge, has emerged as a front-runner to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, according to people familiar with the discussions.
President Trump signaled Saturday morning that he would move to fill the vacancy on the high court “without delay,” raising the likelihood that the Senate will try to confirm a nominee before Election Day on Nov. 3 or during a lame-duck session.
Others said to be under consideration for the Ginsburg vacancy include Amul Thapar, Barbara Lagoa and Allison Jones Rushing, all of whom are Trump appointees to federal appellate benches.
One source familiar with the discussions cautioned that it’s not a “forgone conclusion” that Barrett will be the pick. A decision is expected in the coming days, they said, and the process is moving quickly.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they are working on the confirmation schedule right now. At least I hope they are.

I don’t know if there is enough time to fill that seat. Given the weak-kneed obstructionism held by Murkowski/Romney/Collins, getting them on board will prove Herculean. Barrett is a great choice but, her confirmation will be blocked by Rinos. I’m sure she will appear and be confirmed after the election and the indictments.
I want to see President Trump make a bold move and make Clarence Thomas Chief Justice and shove John Roberts out of the top position.
In Realsville, Amy Barrett is a great pick. Solid conservative, big family, young and articulate.
Another solid conservative is Carlos Muniz of Florida. He’s now on their SC court. Solid family man and by all accounts, strictly a traditional rule of law guy. Also young which is a huge plus.

I think Barrett is a good choice. I despise identity politics, but:
1. The seat she is filling was recently held by a woman; and
2. The wild accusations thrown at Kavanaugh will be far more difficult against a woman, especially after the whole #metoo BS used specifically against Kavanaugh.
The last two Supreme Court Justices, that were picked by Trump have made disappointing decisions, so we must pray whoever it is that he or she is a solid Conservative.
