Patriot Retort: It was all kinds of entertaining yesterday watching the news media fall all over themselves with slobbering glee over the now-discredited Buzzfeed story that Trump told Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about something that isn’t illegal.
On its face the story seemed, well, a tad far-fetched.
But the media – in their never-ending quest to “get Trump” – couldn’t be bothered to stop and verify the allegation. And, boy, did they make fools of themselves.
I don’t expect any different from them. I said before Trump was even inaugurated that the media was hell-bent on delegitimizing his election no matter what. Even if that meant rushing to “report” on allegations based on “unnamed sources” that include zero confirmation.
But it was the reaction of Democrat members of Congress that really made me shake my head in disbelief.
In short, they made idiots of themselves. Because just like the news media, elected members of Congress are willing to suspend disbelief if it confirms their hatred for Donald Trump.
Newly minted Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff was quick to put out a statement. Because “intelligence” and Buzzfeed are practically synonymous.

The allegation that the President of the United States may have suborned perjury before our committee in an effort to curtail the investigation and cover up his business dealings with Russia is among the most serious to date. We will do what’s necessary to find out if it’s true.
And then there was Congressman Ted Lieu (Idiot, CA) who, after once again reminding us that he is a “former prosecutor” leapt all over the Buzzfeed story like a starved dog on a carcass.

Buzzfeed gulled the NPCs successfully. And if you listened carefully, the rest of the media actually did not dive in to back up Buzzfeed. All the media did was repeat the story with disclaimers wrapped in sensationalism. The NPCs are sure that the walls just closed in on Trump a little more, and all of the mockery of Buzzfeed from the right is just whistling past the graveyard. Seriously, I know a couple of these NPCs. You probably do, too.
