A Connecticut state mental health worker has been accused of fraudulently changing Republican voter registrations to Democrat following a September voting event.
Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services employee Arlanda Brantley, 57, faces “five counts each of Fraudulent Registration and Primary or Enrollment Violations,” according to Fox61. As the Hartford Courant reported, police arrested her Monday.
After a “national voting event” at the Western Connecticut Mental Health Network in Torrington, Connecticut on Sept. 17, Brantley allegedly changed “several” voter registration cards with an affiliation of “Republican” or “No” to “Democrat” “without the consent of the registrants.” Police said she then submitted the cards to the Torrington Registrar of Voters clerk, according to Fox61. more here

Years ago, I used to work mental health for both private and the state. It was all too common to see staff filling out registrations and ballots for individuals who had absolutely no awareness of what was going around them, and yet it was the position of these agencies that these individuals still had a right to vote — except that it wasn’t them voting at all, or they were “voting” by following the prompts of whatever staff were working with them that day. It was the worst kept secret in the world, and you were the one to get in trouble for daring to speak out about it. So fucking glad I don’t do that job anymore.

Just because someone is registered D doesn’t mean the voters will vote D when the election comes around.
All he was doing was making it appear his district had more registered D’s and then when the next election occurred everyone would be surprised by the higher than expected number of R votes.
The only way this would have been of any benefit would be if he changed the registrations of people he knew would not actually be voting in the election to somehow vote D in their name.

Mainly what Claudia said, but it also makes stealing votes easier because more Dems are on the rolls than should be. When the vote tally favors Rs they could say we cheated and it looks more believable than it should.
