United States District Judge Richard Leon denied the request Wednesday of various liberal groups seeking an injunction against states requiring new voters provide proof of citizenship.
The judge declared that the injunction was a “thinly veiled request for the relief normally accorded in a final judgment.” He also found it remarkable that the “United States Department of Justice has somehow decided to consent to such remarkable relief.” This despite the fact that a federal agency, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), made the recommendation for verification in the first place.
The 0bama administration will treat this ruling as it has all the others.
