Current Leftist Mindset – As Long As You’re Virtue Signaling You Can Help Yourself To Another’s Labor

AT-

Democrat 2020 presidential candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke proposed Friday in Iowa that the U.S. “allow” farmers to give up their “fair share” of crops to fight climate change.

O’Rourke stood aloft as he proclaimed his message at a rally in Marshalltown, Iowa Friday:

If we allow farmers to earn a profit in what they grow, if we allow them to contribute their fair share in combatting Climate Change by growing cover crops, allowing the technologies that invest in precision tilling and farming, capturing more of that carbon out of the air is another way in which they can make a profit. Keep those farms together, pass them on to the next generation, and allow them to provide us our food and national security, our independence from the rest of the world, our ability to provide for the rest of the world.

It seems the new socialist mantra is that so long a you can virtue-signal, you can help yourself to anything from those who work for it.

It also shows that he sees global warming as an instrument for increasing state power, even as he puts it in new dulcet terms such as ‘allowing’ farmers to ‘contribute’ their fair share. What he means is what socialists always mean: Taking other people’s stuff by means of force.

And like any socialist (I’m gonna call him one with a proposal like that), he always favors what he favors conditioned on himself being the one on top, doing all the ‘redistributing. How’d he like some Iowa farmers to ‘redistribute’ some of his belongings in the name of saving the earth? It’s the same logic.

It’s vapid. It’s impractical. And it has potential for destroying the entire farm structure of the U.S., given that farmer after farmer in such as scenario, will ‘go Galt.’

  1. He’s typical of our culture where everything has been politicized right down to individual ‘behavior.’ It’s the prerequisite to a totalitarian society.

  2. Can you say mass starvation in the Ukraine in the 1920’s and Kulaks. Nothing good will come of this dumbass idea. Or what has happened to Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) and S. Africa in current times. The democraps are all a bunch of morons, especially if they believe enough dumb people will fall for this crap.

…No, I’m pretty sure they feel like they can take EVERYTHING from ANYONE at ANY time, no justification at all necessary, but they DO like to throw their media lickspittles enough of a bone to try to put off the necessary revolt to buy time to get back to power and take all the guns…

…this is the same bunch that thought Somalia could be resolved by having the U.S. Military deliver lunch. As will ALL famines since the 20th Century dawned, famines are NOT about there not being enough food, they are about Governments not minding if certain portions of the population starve to death, and in some cases ENCOURAGING that to happen. Somalia was a bit different only in the Mad Max sort of dystopia it had fallen into, but was NOT different in that our troops were escorting quat-addled Somali drivers through ACRES of produce and HERDS of animals to deliver Unimix to the people not in the warlord’s favor. Somalis themselves would sometimes sabotage their vehicles to have “breakdown” en route so their loads could be “stolen”, and after the army left the foodstuffs would generally be liberated anyway, and sometimes simply destroyed because there was little of a thieves’ market for Unimix.

The whole things was a gigantic, pointless liberal virtue signalling, and set the stage for many others like it, most of which ended up only empowering thugs more. We took direct military action in Bosnia, for example, and only ended up making the world FAR less safe for Christians after acting as the Islamic Air Force in the region, and we CONTINUE to make mistakes like this ALL THE TIME, because, liberals.

…if we can’t STOP it, the least we could do is not ABET it. And that’s just what our tax dollars – our stolen labor – is doing.

  5. Jimmy – – how else do you expect all those social-justice-warrior college students with shit degrees to make a living? The plan is for the government to employ them all to regulate the behavior of us peons. Just like the local commissars in communist China.

  6. Oh, don’t blame socialism! Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler, Mussolini, Chavez, Castro, those guys just went about it wrong. Today’s American socialists are more “ enlightened”!

  7. Billy Fuster – I bring that up all the time. Progressives/Liberals/Democrats can’t seem to differentiate between:

    Community
    Commune
    and
    Communist

A Community of free men and women is not a Commune and can’t be run by Communists or it self-destructs.

‘Human Community’ on this planet predates all of these idiots and their confused thinking.

  8. “If we allow farmers”

What the …??? Government works FOR the people at our blessing. We will do what we want with the Constitution as our law. Time for the entitled ‘rulers’ to be banished from government!

Edit: Anonymous April 9, 2019 at 9:17 am, great minds! I should have read the comments before I made my comment! I was just too infuriated with that assumption that “they” need to allow us anything! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

  9. our ability to provide for the rest of the world

Those who think too highly of themselves call that “divided loyalty”. Those more plain spoken call it “disloyalty”. Those simply honest call such statements, before an oath of office, “disqualifying”. All, but co-conspiring traitors, call such statements, after an oath of office, “treason”.

  10. he’s corrupt
just like the rest of his family, and his wife’s family
    cartel corrupt

here’s a rabbit hole, which is pretty well wiped, though here is an article from the 1984 nyt which mentions his father, who was a judge:

“The incumbent, Mike Davis, got into a jam, too, after one of his deputies found a bag full of white powder several months ago in the car of Pat O’Rourk, the county executive. The deputy was told to get rid of the powder, but the grand jury was unable to figure out who issued the order. At any rate, the powder was not analyzed before being destroyed, so officially no one knows what it was.”
