A British woman was convicted Monday for lying about an alleged gang rape by 12 Israeli teens and young men.
In a damning verdict, a Cyprus court found the woman, whose name was barred from publication, made up the story of being brutally assaulted to get back at the young men after she learned they had filmed her during a July orgy in her hotel room. He found her guilty on charges of public mischief.
According to Judge Michalis Papathansidi, investigators and other prosecution witnesses offered plausible testimony. But the woman had proved herself “unreliable” by making implausible and contradictory statements, he said.
“‘She did not make a good impression on the court. She did not tell the truth and tried to mislead the court,” he continued. “She knows that she was never raped.” There’s MORE
