Could not go to National Cemetery this year. Lost too many pals last 12 months. Getting difficult to see all those mournful people, long faces on little ones. Should be better tomorrow. If we get there early enough tens of thousands of flags will still be on display.
We need more politicians with his credentials.

Reading about those guys makes a guy like me feel a bit inadequate. I never served, and times like this I’m ashamed I didn’t.
I’m with you J6, but my Viet Nam Marine Corps combat vet father-in-law explained it this way. When you do things for the troops it’s service in its own way. Not that I totally buy into that but it would have been boneheaded to graduate from high school in 1972 and enlist when the whole country had turned against the mission.
Just do stuff for the troops and families. We’re too old to do much else.
