Daughter Publishes Cache Of Deceased Father’s Files on Republican Redistricting Plans For North Carolina

NPR Station KUOW

More than a year after his death, a cache of computer files saved on the hard drives of Thomas Hofeller, a prominent Republican redistricting strategist, is becoming public.

Republican state lawmakers in North Carolina fought in court to keep copies of these maps, spreadsheets and other documents from entering the public record. But some files have already come to light in recent months through court filings and news reports.

They have been cited as evidence of gerrymandering that got political maps thrown out in North Carolina, and they have raised questions about Hofeller’s role in the Trump administration’s failed push for a census citizenship question.

Now more of the files are available online through a website called The Hofeller Files, where Hofeller’s daughter, Stephanie Hofeller, published a link to her copy of the files on Sunday after first announcing her plans in a tweet last month. More

  1. “The reason I don’t identify as a Democrat is because I’m an anarchist,”

The principle goal of Anarchy is to destroy any kind of established order and rule of law.

It’s a “tear it down” philosophy, not an “improve it” or “build it up to make it better” one.

And you see how it works in practice with her.

  3. I believe that the Republican Party can sue the estate for something like this. He had an obligation not to protect privileged information and that obligation transfers to the estate.

The details of all that happened are chaotic, and it’s difficult to keep Stephanie on track when she talks about it. She meanders and is easily distracted by other thoughts she has along the way – she also becomes agitated when she talks about her children and experiences with the West Virginia court system. But she blames her father for participating in the termination of her and Lizon’s parental rights. The elder Hofellers had custody early on of their grandson, but ultimately placed him in foster care, according to court documents. They never had custody of their granddaughter, because she was born in the midst of the civil case.

At some point in the future she’s going to hate herself for betraying her father.

Agree with Mr. Hasty. There’s no coherent thought possible coming out of that one.

  6. This story is very one sided and gives no real proof of anything. Dems have been redistricting for years too. This sounds like a no good kid coming around to destroy her father after his death.
    How courageous.
