Daytona Grand Marshal – Donald J. Trump

Fox-

President Trump is taking part in this year’s Daytona 500. Not as a driver, but as grand marshal, which means he gets to give the “start your engines” command to the 43 entrants in The Great American Race.

It’ll mark the first time a president, sitting or former, has ever held the role. The only other time a sitting president attended the race was when George Bush came in 2004, the year Dale Earnhardt Jr. won his first 500.

Earnhardt was grand marshal in 2018 and will be on the stand this Sunday to wave the green flag as honorary starter.

Trump was endorsed in 2016 by former NASCAR CEO Brian France Jr., has hosted series champions Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr. at The White House and gave NASCAR team owner Roger Penske the Presidential Medal of Freedom last year.

  1. Reagan: attends 1984 Firecracker 400 July race at Daytona during 4th year of first term…wins re-election.
    Bush: attends 2004 Daytona 500 in 4th year of first term…wins re-election.
Trump: attends 2020 Daytona 500 in 4th year of first term….
    This is getting monotonous

  2. I’m about 50 miles away and I bet I’ll hear the cheers when the President makes the announcement.

I’m glad to see that despite the rigors and stress of that office President Trump hasn’t forgot to keep some time aside for having fun.
Besides, seeing the President so upbeat all the time just adds to the leftists gloom.

  3. He should have “The Beast” custom painted with “MAGA 2020” just for the occasion. Put straight pipes on it. Do a couple laps with an escort of SS SUV’s, lights flashing.

  4. I’ll watch the anthem.
    I’ll watch the President.

But there is no way I’m watching a “3 stage race” 30% under yellow flags.

No issues with the drivers or car racing, just the way the races are run.
