NTK:
Mo Brooks, once a ‘Never-Trumper,’ sent out a post-mortem after he failed to make the Alabama Senate runoff that included a criticism of the president
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) fell short of the votes necessary to advance to the Republican primary runoff on Tuesday. Instead, former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore will face off against incumbent Sen. Luther Strange in September.
But on his way out the door, Brooks took it upon himself to text “journalists, lawmakers and top Republican officials” a post-mortem on why he lost and what will happen next.
Among Brooks’ musings was a parting shot at President Trump, who endorsed Strange. After explaining that he believed Trump’s endorsement was the reason for his defeat, he wrote this:
An interesting note. 68% of Alabama GOP Primary voters rejected [President Donald Trump’s] endorsement and voted against [Luther Strange]. Not yet sure what the national implications of that might be but we will find out.
During the 2016 presidential primary process, Brooks was a notable “Never-Trumper.” When it came to the general election, Brooks refused to say he would vote for Trump by name, insisting instead he would vote for “the Republican.”
His statement is accurate. I still don’t see the logic in supporting Mr. “Strange”.
Wel…..bye.
Well…..bye.
I’m sure Brooks is a fine Conservative. But he was also a NeverTrumper. Did he honestly think that DJT would “forget” that? Sorry, Mo….now let’s hope that Moore wins.
” why he lost and what will happen next ”
Isn’t that the theme of hillary clinton’s book tour?
There are way too many Moes, Curlys and Larrys in Congress as it is.
My Apologies to the 3 Stooges, they were just acting like fools, Congress is no act.
I’m with Freedom Fighter. Hopefully the good people of Alabama will vote Roy Moore in. Brooks and Strange were questionable candidates to begin with.
More than 68% of Alabama’s GOP voters voted against Mo so there’s that.
Brooks tried to read the political winds and demonstrated his poor sense of smell. Good riddance to the typical fence sitter. We already have far too many opportunists and too few statesmen.
Run from Trump at your own election-peril GOPe Never Trumpers. Jeff Flake is the next to go.
Don’t look over your shoulder, Jeff Flake. Just cherish each moment you still have.
I believe Trump endorsed Kelli Ward yesterday
Watch McCain’s “foundation” and campaign contributions to Flake, as well as big contributors and Special Interest groups with McCain Connections.
Flakes generally gravitate toward each other.
As an Alabamian, I could explain some of this but no one really cares. If Roy Moore wins the run off–you can put money on the democrat (Doug Jones) winning.
Mo,
A seer you are not so try not to jump on any more bandwagons.
If he lost then took a pot shot at the Prez, all he did was confirm that voters chose wisely. You can’t stab a guy in the back then run around to the front and ask for support. Jerry Brown continually makes that mistake. Look how well it worked for him. McCain has been doing that for years and look how badly he is hated and despised.
Don’t need any strange.
voting for roy moore
Moe Howard, one of the 3 Stooges, was a wonderful, thoughtful man. I have no idea on his politics, but his actions, when not acting were something to be proud of. R,I.P. Your comedy shorts gave me many laughs. One of his favorites was You Nazi Spy.
People stopped looking for strange since the 80s.
“I believe Trump endorsed Kelli Ward yesterday”
Oh he did more than that. She will be attending his Rally in Phoenix where he will spend some time addressing the flake Flake.
Corky, I don’t know any real specifics, but from stuff I’ve been reading, I think you are correct. Strange has been in support of PT through it all.
I appreciate your comment that confired my sentiments.
No Mo No Mo !
No Mo No Mo !
Brooks is doing a fine job where he is. Get back to work, Mo!
