Democrats frown on targeting gang databases with ‘red flag’ laws

WAEX:

House Democrats this week advanced a new measure to encourage states to pass “red flag” laws, known as extreme risk protection orders, that authorize removing guns and ammunition from dangerous individuals.

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee amended the measure during a Wednesday mark-up to authorize the federal government to issue extreme risk protection orders in some instances, but they rejected an amendment that would have red-flagged anyone who law enforcement lists as a gang member.

“The majority of violent crime, including gun violence, in the United States is linked to gangs,” Rep. Ken Buck, a Colorado Republican who sponsored the amendment, said Wednesday. “My amendment is quite simple. It would allow the issuance of a red flag order against anyone whose name appears in a gang database if there was probable cause to include that individual in the database.” more

  1. The Federal Government has no fear of the murderous gangs infesting the country. The government fears law-abiding citizens armed by the Second amendment. Those armed citizens standing in the way of an out of control government that is fully prepared to use deadly force to trample the entire Constitution of these United States.

  2. Gangs generally have many illegals in them. in fact most of them originated through illegals from Central America and Mexico and spread through the US as the illegals spread through it.

Illegals are a protected species in the Democrats view, of course they will oppose anything that infringes on their right and ability to engage in violent illegal activities here.

  3. “Like the no-fly lists, which have erroneously flagged many innocent individual as terrorists (including the late Sen. Ted Kennedy)…”

That is a matter of opinion. Just ask any of the numerous victims of Teddy’s sexual assaults. Not to mention Mary Jo.

  4. FTA: Democrats kept objecting, arguing someone could be misidentified as gang members simply for writing “13” on a piece of paper and having it wrongly identified as an MS-13 gang sign.

“Maybe you are just doodling because it is the 13th of June,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler of New York said.

    **ALERT** **WARNING**
If your date of birth falls on the 13th of the month, you should immediately petition the Court to change it to the 12th or 14th. Same principle applies if you’re turning 13 on your upcoming birthday…skip it and proceed to age 14.
If you possess any VHS tapes of Friday the 13th, destroy them immediately!

  5. As Rick points out above:

“Red flag laws will be reserved strictly for white Christians.

Or, political opponents, in general, which means the majority of gun-owning, American Republicans and Independents, i.e. anyone who refuses to give up their 2nd Amendment rights.

  7. Here’s an Idea.
Implement red flag laws ONLY on gang members in gang data bases, and see how that goes. See if they want to participate in a ‘buy back’ program.
Good training for when you want to take them away from law abiding Americans.

  8. I’m really so angry that these lawless politicians think they can spend OUR money, treat the American hardworking taxpayers as if we are the problem! How long are we going to continue to allow these lying crooks to keep trying to take OUR rights away without a gd fight?!
