Patrick J. Conroy has served as the House Chaplain since assuming the post in 2011. The April 15th resignation of the Jesuit priest was met with outrage from democratic members with an attempted lead by House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-NY) to create a committee to investigate Conroy’s removal by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).
Many believe Conroy had become too political, especially after his opening prayer addressing members on tax policy back in November. Here
Speaker Ryan has stated that Conroy had been asked to resign based on the stated desire by a number of members who say that pastoral needs weren’t being met.” More
“a number of members who say that pastoral needs weren’t being met”
That “shepherd” reference is just figurative. You New American™ congress critters need to find your own goats.

No one wants to go to church and be prisoner to some priest going on and on about ‘social justice’ and ‘gimme money for social justice’.
They’re holding The Bible yet they are not talking about it.
I thought a Jesuit Pope was enough for the progressive/socialists.
He appoints a Muzz 3…2…1….
His parting shot! (heh)
Whatever happened to the Democrats’ constant screeching about the separation of church and state?
Not if you have a pastor/preacher/chaplain who uses the Bible (nee Social Justice) as a weapon.
The mainline church and liberal clergy having being doing it since the 1950’s.
Search “divestment movement.”
The guy was a Jesuit; all you need to know. Oh yeah, and from Portland, no less.
