My first reaction was that it sounded like the Russian National Anthem.
Yes, I listened to the whole thing, but the initial impression stuck with me. The overall impression of the myriad of voices just seemed “collectivist”.
If I’d have seen this sooner, I would have included it in today’s TrumpDay post at my place, coincidentally titled: #TrumpDay Deplorable Montage Edition. Don’t worry though, there will be another one next week! 🙂
Use this tune. It can never be topped by anything else because it transmits the fight, defiance, and the resolve of a nation’s people who decided they’d had enough shit from “their betters” and gave a resounding ‘fuck you’, and returned some hot lead as a statement of “NO”.
Every time I hear this song I tear up. For me it represents the spirit of the good fight that I believe still remains within the core of America.
America is exceptional for a reason, and it’s not because of any ONE leader.
Somebody needs to make a “Deplorable Together” t-shirt that copies HRC’s “Stronger Together” shirts.
In JFK’s campaign they used a lot of Broadway and movie themes
Sinatra did a version of “High Hopes” for JFK and they associated his term in office with “Camelot” and “The Impossible Dream” from the Man from La Mancha is a song they still use at Kennedy funerals.
All of these were intentional co-optings that I’m sure the song writers were just thrilled with.
“Do You Hear the People Sing” is becoming an unofficial anthem and I’m sure the song writer will demand those using it support of the Republican candidate cease and desist as soon as they can catch somebody using it.
Tsunami, IT’S BROADWAY, dude!
I bet alot more people might be attracted to it, being an unfamiliar melody (thought the lyrics are generally hard to hear).
DRAMAAAAAATIC…..
I’ll tell whut’s Russian! The Bullshit coming out of the White House these days almost puts to shame what I used to hear coming out of Radio Moscow back in the 70s and 80s and that shit wuz preposterous!
@Dr. Tar — I thought that was a great idea, but do we want to copy anything from that woman? 😉
After watching just the first 10 seconds I realized how sweet it would be to have a President the uses the word “WE”.
AWESOMENESS!!!! I LOVE IT.
Sounds too “Russian”.
Wow! Pretty powerful!
“Who will be strong and stand with me?!”
@Tsunami — Curious, how so?
I can guess, AA.
The music.
@Dadof4 — I wasn’t sure. Thought it might be the display of military might. (Which I love when it’s the good guys.)
Powerful!
I didn’t get Russian, Tsunami. I got Les Miserables (which I loved). The song was moving in the play, and even more moving in this context.
Mrs. Gump:”Deplorable is, as deplorable does”

How about “More-able Deplorable”
