DirecTV is buying Dish and Sling, a deal it has sought to complete for years, as the company seeks to better compete against streaming services that have become dominant.
DirecTV said Monday that it will acquire Dish TV and Sling TV from its owner EchoStar in a debt exchange transaction that includes a payment of $1, plus the assumption of approximately $9.8 billion in debt. More
ripoff
Reminds me of TV Guide and Newsweak…
Guess who’s bill is fixing to go up Somebody has to pay for that debt.
I wanted to buy it for two dollars (without the 9.8 billion in debt). But the bastards refused!
I can absolutely guarantee that the monthly cost of satellite TV will now skyrocket as high as the satellites that carry the signal. No competition =
automatic price gouging.
I’ve been on the cusp of dumping my sat tv service for a while. I’m tired of supporting BET, Disney, the NFL, Fag TV channels and other crap whether I want to or not. I’m done unless they offer ala cart program schedules.
One of these decades I will put an antenna up in the attic but I have not gotten around to it yet. We are I. The northwest part of the city. All the TV transmitters are in the southwest — 35 miles away (this is a big place).
When we moved here we saw no reason to spend $100 a month for cable or satellite (even though we have a dish on our garage from the old owners).
Verizon bought Bell Atlantic for one dirty butthole.
Fuck all of these motherfuckers.
Shitbags ruined everything.
You ruined my retirement, my craft, and the precepts of function.
Any of you motherfuckers who, after that bullshit, call your motherfucking selves, “telephone men”, deserve to have your heads stuck on sticks.
Fucks’t thou.
TV is pretty much ALL GARBAGE; ALL THE TIME.

In 1961 when Newton Minnow was the head of the FCC, he famously called TV programming a vast wasteland and nothing has changed since then except TV programming is now far worse and more insidious than it was back in 1961.
I have been watching old episodes of Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges on ROKU lately from the late 50’s and have found them to be thoroughly well done as well as entertaining. His young son Jeff Bridges is even in a few episodes as well as Larry Hagman and Leonard Nimoy.
Been on antenna for years, and I live behind a big hill, so reception ain’t the greatest.
Dr Hambone,
I felt the same way so I bought a Roku box for about $40. With it i get a buttload of free channels and can subscribe to another buttload of premium channels. I bought a second box and have no problem running them both off my Starlink connection.
