  1. Ah, I was wondering what happened. I’m glad that, at least it wasn’t Pamela that disabled comments there. I visit her site daily.
Those self-censoring cowards at American Thinker stopped allowing comments, and I haven’t been back there since I found out. Likely they’ll have to go full leftist to survive.

But Pamela can find another comment service, and I hope she does soon.

  2. Yup!
I’ve notice Disqus has started deleting posts with links to what they consider controversial websites about a month ago.
David A Steinberg and John Scully, the owners of Zeta Global of which Disqus is a part of, are probably flaming leftist.

  3. Any blog that covers current events/politics and doesn’t have a comment thread either doesn’t want their opinions challenged or is being censored by the uniparty. There are no other options. It’s a crying shame about AT. The conservative treehouse house the problem licked I wish everyone else would fall in line.

  4. I miss Yahoo. Yahoo used to be pretty centrist. Then after Verizon bought them they went CNN-level left. But they still had comments, and because of their popularity an article would have thousands of comments from all points of view, and you could sort by best-liked. Of course after their radical change the comments were mostly bashing the article, so… they removed comments.
It isn’t just that the leftists are moving further away from the right. It’s also that the means of communication are being removed.

  5. Disqus is not, and never has been, worthy of trust. Deleting comments and cancelling site discussions are the least of the things to be concerned about.

A Trojan horse sort of thing. Walk on eggshells when on sites that use it when you comment.

  6. I don’t pretend to understand these internet things, but if the nihilistic totalitarians can set up and maintain communications, why can’t Americans?
    I don’t get it.
There have to be SOME smart and wealthy Americans still willing to put up the necessary resources? The payoff should be grand!

Knock – knock – knock … is there anybody out there?

It gets tried on a regular basis, but usually fails to gain traction because there are not enough legitimate users to maintain them. When some develop longer term viability they never seem to go beyond very limited scope and noncompetitive operations that really don’t accomplish much in terms of attracting users from the general public (which is what is needed to be competitive with the established systems).

…what Anonymous says above is true, but also if one DOES get successful they will buy it or cancel it. See Left Coast Dan above about Yahoo or anything about Parker.

…it’s always easier to destroy than create. Democrats not only prove that every day, but profit by it as well.

…just remember that if you get in a fight and YOU play by Marquis of Queensbury rules and THEY have NO rules, YOU will lose every time…

  9. Getiing a Disqus account is like an idiot self-identification test.

Yes, I would like every comment I leave on every website on every device I use linked to one account. For the convenience of the police state that decided I was a domestic terrorist because I don’t believe the ghost of the late Joe Biden won the most votes in US history by campaigning in empty parking lots for a month.

  10. MOONBATTERY has Disqus. To keep from drawing unnecessary fire to the site, I refrain from posting memes and links in the comments. In fact, I don’t comment any more.

I guess you’d say that’s ‘self-censoring’ but the next fascist step is de-platforming. That happened to CTH and they came back stronger and bolder.
