I like his point, but the truth is the kind of people who would do as he challenges only operate when they have a decided numerical advantage. You’re not going to see one street ape try to snatch the flag off the shoulders of a squad of Marines, much less a Battalion.
I was a Marine coming home through airports 45 years ago and got less than a warm welcome, as did all military of those shameful times. For the most part, we took it stoically and chalked it up to ignorance. My guess is that today’s Marines would too.

It is impossible to “disrespect the flag”, or “disrespect a person”, or anything else.
One *shows disrespect* for something. The word disrespect is a noun, not a verb.
