Does military’s secret biodefense lab hold a key to future coronavirus treatment?

Little noticed research on oleandrin extract from flowering plant gaining steam.

Just The News – Though often omitted from public conversations about pandemic solutions, the U.S. military has a huge stake in fighting deadly infectious diseases and quietly has been researching novel treatments for years at its secretive biodefense lab at Fort Detrick.

The reasons are mission obvious. With soldiers deployed in exotic locations around the world where novel viruses like Ebola, Zika or bird and swine flus can strike with lighting speed and alarming fatality, the Pentagon wants to make sure it has treatments to keep its forces from being disabled

It’s from that body of research that an intriguing potential remedy, an organic extract, has emerged. And of all sources, it comes from the common but toxic flowering plant oleander. read more

  1. These are all over SoCal and as kids we were warned about them and pyracanthas. We used to have “battles” throwing pyracantha berries at each other. It got pretty messy.

  2. Hawaii has plenty of Oleander as well. Back in a previous life I lived in Hawaii and I remember a little kid nearly dying from roasting marshmallows on an oleander branch. That stuff really is toxic.

  3. Pyracantha spreads like weeds, xplodeit. The birds eat the berries and poop them miles away. Next thing you know, you have a Pyracantha forest. It’s truly a nasty, invasive species in North America now.

  4. Well, somebody must warn PDJT NOT to mention the possibility of Oleander working against the dempanic, because some asshole will feed their whole plant to their spouse and claim that the President MADE them do it.

‘Cause there ain’t no cure for the summertime flu.”

    Mitigation – no cure.

In a free country – we should (SHOULD?) be able to try whatever we can think of, without waiting for Big Brother’s consent.

I’ll scream that question over the fence to them and I’ll get back to you if anyone replies…

  7. No other post to put this at the moment, but I though it worth passing on. The CoVid-19 case analysis of Snohomish County, Washington, where I live:

    https://www.snohd.org/499/COVID-19-Case-Count-Info

It’s a very complete accounting. As you can see, we’re real close to being done with the first wave. (Hats off to Snohomish County first responders and medical professionals – some of the best trained and prepared in the country!)

I would be interested in seeing any similar county web pages from commenters at iOTWReport.
