Does Trump Need To Be a Conservative To Fix America? – IOTW Report

Does Trump Need To Be a Conservative To Fix America?

Does Trump need to be a conservative to his bones in order to fix America, or does he simply need to fulfill his campaign promises?

Can he be a rude asshole with harsh tone and fix America?

Can he be a CINO (Christian in Name Only) and fix the major issues facing Christians in 2016?

VirginiaRight published an article by “Tom,” a US Navy veteran and writer for American Thinker, that calls Trump the “accidental candidate.”

Trump became the frontrunner when he said one simple phrase – “I’m going to build a huge wall.”

This, among all else, was what ignited his followers because they intuitively know that without a secure border, America is over. All the other issues are meaningless.

Until another candidate guarantees a wall, and doesn’t mealy-mouth on this issue, obfuscating with talks about partial amnesty, work visas, “who we are” as a nation, etc., they won’t win.

So, it simply comes down to whether you trust this rude asshole to do the things he’s vowed to do, or you don’t.

I think it’s as safe to trust Trump as it is to trust any other person making campaign promises. After all, Trump is popular largely because of a legacy of broken promises by slick politicians.

READ HERE. It’s worth it whether you’re a Trump supporter or not.

  1. I don’t trust Trump. He spouts off quite frequently. Loose lips sink ships. I cannot picture him greeting the Queen and telling her something like, “Yeah, I the guy that tried to woo your former daughter-in-law.”

  2. I believe if you fix our economy, and deal with the immigration issue a lot of the other problems will fix them selves. There’s a lot of our population that is losing hope. Trump’s the guy that can get that done.

  3. I guess it would depend on what your definition of fixing America is to answer that question. With up to 4 possible Supreme Court picks, I sure do think America would be in a FIX with the kind of Liberal Judges Trump has backed and the one pick he has already made known.

  4. Being a New Yorker, I can say that it is the “New York philosophy” he espouses that makes me concerned. “Making America Great Again” is a great slogan but what does it mean; is his concept of it my concept of it? His pro-fetus murder stance, his love of single payer medicine, or his love of the Red Mayor in the city are not things that make him attractive enough to me to not have qualms.
The nation elected a slogan in ’08 and in ’12–and look where we are now.
I don’t think we can afford another ambiguous slogan in the oval orifice for another 4 or 8 years–no matter how “attractive” he makes it.

  5. I’m still looking forward to voting for either Trump or Cruz, I think they are still the best choices. There are a couple issues I would like them to see my way a little more but I guess in order to have what I think is the perfect candidate I would have to run myself. It’s also too bad Trump and Cruz are so at odds right now. If they would run against the libs they would both be better off, and so would our ticket.

  6. “Rude assholes of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your wimps!”

He wants to build a wall, stop illegal immigration, and begin deportation.
He wants to stop Common Core federalization of education.
He doesn’t support the TPP trade deal.
He wants to actually repeal ObamaCare and replace with market/consumer approach.

“Conservative” or not, good enough of a start for me.

  7. I was born and raised in the South (Georgia and NC), and lived most of my life there. I moved to NYS several years ago. Aside from the lefty actors/actresses, the bought and paid for media that everyone sees, and the lefty politicians – New Yorkers are very decent people for the most part. I can tell you honestly that most NYKers are as fed up as anyone else across the nation.

I’m damned glad Trump jumped in. Otherwise, Jeb would have been shoved on us, which NO ONE would have voted for, and we’d end up with the same old shit different day with Hillary. The media would have destroyed Cruz, like they are trying to do now with Cruz and Trump.

    Trump 2016! Because FUCK YOU!

  8. Trump is the first guy over the wall.
Imagine laying siege to an immense castle.
The siege grinds on for what seems like forever, until one day The attacking army sees somebody in their uniform on top of the enemy’s wall. One of ours, and he’s up there.
The attacking army goes mad. If that guy can get up there, so can we. They redouble their efforts. The city’s fate is sealed.

  9. I’d much, much rather have a president who is an independently successful person than any of the public-servants-for-life candidates out there. From either side. We’ve been electing campaign slogans since I can remember, so what’s so different about Trump? I Like Ike, The Great Society, Morning in America, et al.
The GOPe will lose this election if Trump wins the primaries and they keep tearing him down. If you’re eating your own, prepare for indigestion.

  10. Considering trump’s personal ties to Bill Clinton, and the fact that he is running on a platform almost identical to the one bill ran on, I think it is reasonable to assume that as president he will govern in a manner similar to Clinton.
In other words, if the Republicans hold on to strong majorities in Congress the end result has every chance of being a positive one.

  11. Bad_Brad, all Presidential candidates in recent history including Clinton, Bush, and Obama had lawsuits filed against them as they ran, but for some unknown reason that only seems to be important in this election. I find it interesting how criteria that was never in effect before is now a major criteria. I thought the “Birther” lawsuits against Obama were silly and this crazy crap with Cruz is also silly. And as with Obama it went nowhere and this is going nowhere now.

I liked Cruz, so when the first write-ups accusing him of impropriety came up I read them thinking “great another one in the long line”. The problem is that unlike past candidates the write-ups in this election have no meat. A lot of assertions and innuendo, but nothing else. I especially love how some of the writers create “what-if” scenarios and then insert Cruz even though they admit he hasn’t done what is needed for their scenario to work.

I realize there is a lot of emotion going through this election and people for whatever reason have picked sides. I have serious doubts based solely on past performance and previously stated positions that Trump will not be wheeling and dealing if elected. If Trump betrays folks then anarchy is likely.

  12. An old, worn-out, shitty boot would make a better Preznit than what we’ve got, but anyone who expects ANYONE to “fix” America has been smoking some wacky-tobacky or imbibing spirits beyond that personal critical point.

    $20 Trillion in Debt.
    $200 Trillion in unfunded Liabilities.
    50% Deficit Each Year!
Invasion of Rat-People, both mexican and izlamic.
    Mal-Education from Pre-School to PhD.
Metastasization of ignorance, illiteracy, and innumeracy.
    Morals of Mongrels.
    55 Million murdered unborn.
    A burgeoning Globaloney Warming Hoax.
    94 Million out of Work.
    A phony paper-based economy.
    EPA.
    Corps of Engineers.
    IRS.
    DOJ.
AFT and NEA and UAW and Teamsters and AFSCME and SEIU and CWA and …
A SCROTUS which purports not to know the difference between a tax and a dictate, and seems to have found a “right” to “marriage” in the Constitution, and upholds that, for some rights, the “little people” must be granted “permission” to exercise them.
$Billions stolen and Congress grants another $1.1Trillion to the thieves!

    Good fucking luck, with that.

  13. Exactly Czar, You can find anything you want on the web right now to slam a candidate. Any of them. I’m done with talking about this until after Iowa. Linking this stuff makes about as much sense as believing Red State.

  14. No, he doesn’t need to be a conservative to his bones to fix this country. And good thing too, because he’s not.

Righting the economic ship and stopping the illegal immigration nightmare will go a long way to getting us back on track. There is an unbelievable amount of pent up energy that will be released when we get going.

  15. Let’s see. Would I rather have a polished politician owned by shadowy figures who lies to me while quoting focus group tested sound bites or a sumbich who lays it on the line and gets done the things that I think are critical to remaining a free nation?

Can I get back to you on that?

By the way – since I think the presidency would be Trump’s last hurrah, I believe his ego if nothing else would require that he go down in history as the guy who made America great again by doing what he’s campaigning on. If not, he’ll be forever known as the failed liar just like all the others who was left to turn out the lights.

  16. Mr. Hat that second link is a dandy. It shows that Trump is a right of center Libertarian after looking back over many years of statements and writings. I don’t have time to read all of it now, but i wll later and anyone who really wants to know more about Trump needs to give it a go.

  17. So funny! I could have written that letter myself! I think even a part of it is in the Bullpen under my name.

It’s so much easier to get behind someone who has no ties to Wall Street — not even rumors of ties to Wall Street — than to spend time trying to sort out the ties to Wall Street, because Trump doesn’t have any. That is the biggest paradigm shift in politics since I don’t even know when. Probably sometime in the early 1800’s.

I used to cringe at every verbal misstep and couldn’t believe anyone could take his rough demeanor seriously. Now I relish it. The thing is, he’s so damn tough he doesn’t need the varnish to protect him. What you see is what you get. Imperfect? True. There’s something very fishy about perfection in politics.

  18. It was put together by the guy that run Dougross@Journal. You might actually find out some facts about the sudden “conservative” Donnie-boy there, but then the facts would kind of harsh that pleasant buzz of emotion. Are you sure you’re both guys?

  19. Exactly.

Something else, too, for those who question the Trumpster’s true motives.

Does anyone REALLY think that a guy who puts his name on EVERYTHING in big, ostentatious chrome and gold letters wants to hang that same name on a country he’s turned to shit?

    It.
    Isn’t.
    Going.
    To.
    Happen.

This is a Big League guy with Big League success going for the Biggest Big League position in the free WHOLE World.

He will settle for nothing less that being mentioned with Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln…

He won’t rest without knowing that his mug is going up on Mount Rushmore.

And, given the American penchant for bloodlines, don’t be surprised when the first female (and Jewish) President is Ivanka Trump.

    You heard it here first.

  20. Interesting as I never thought of the angle of Trump’s “last hurrah” as it were…that would certainly be a “cherry on top” of his life’s work wouldn’t it…and for a narcissist, this really would be an unusual tack to take…thanks for the “food for thought”…much appreciated.
