DOJ refusing to prosecute man for arson of NYPD car during BLM riots, congressman says

JTN

Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) is demanding to know why the Justice Department dropped a charge of arson against a man who attempted to ignite a New York Police Department vehicle on fire during the George Floyd riots in 2020.

In June 2020, Victor Sanchez-Santa, then a 19-year-old resident of Queens, was arrested and charged by the DOJ for one count of arson after allegedly lighting a cloth glove on fire and placing it under an NYPD vehicle before leaving the scene. According to an NYPD detective’s affidavit, the crime was caught on surveillance video.

Sanchez-Santa made national headlines regarding the alleged arson, including in The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Associated Press, NBC New York, New York Post, and New York Daily News.

Three months later, Sanchez-Santa was indicted for arson by a grand jury. Arson carries a minimum mandatory sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years. more

  2. When you condone/excuse/reward criminality……

    You get more criminality……

    Maximum sentences with no parole……and
burning, hanging and/or ventilating a few murderers will solve this problem…..preferably in the town square.

  3. Criminally corrupt smellocrat party louse
    MERRICK GARLAND
    refuses to even investigate an
attempted homicide riot arson while he still
    attempts to create a frame-up regarding jan/6.

And the Lord god Obama nearly
    put him on the court.

  4. As a firefighter, I always regarded arsonists as attempted murderers who were specifically trying to murder me and my brothers and sisters, because sometimes that’s exactly what happened. Arsonists always have a surprise that will change the way the fire moves, usually do multiple sets so it becomes a conflagration pretty quickly, sometimes rig something specifically designed to injure people trying to stop their creation, and have been known to join the crowd to thrill as they watch their fire burn and get off on asking nearby firefighters for information. Arsonists always have evil intent, and one of the few Democrat statements I ever agreed with was Chicago Mayor Dailey ordering the police to shoot arsonists during the 1968 riots.
