From 6/17/2015- Hollywood Reporter.
A casting call was sent out last week “looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement.”
Donald Trump‘s big presidential announcement Tuesday was made a little bigger with help from paid actors — at $50 a pop.
New York-based Extra Mile Casting sent an email last Friday to its client list of background actors, seeking extras to beef up attendance at Trump’s event.
“We are looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement,” reads the June 12 email, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “We understand this is not a traditional ‘background job,’ but we believe acting comes in all forms and this is inclusive of that school of thought.” MORE

hmm sounds like BS to me.
From June 17th of 2015. From the turnout at Trump events, doesn’t look like he needs to buy anyone. And the Hollywood Reporter. GMAFB.
Well…if the Hollywood Reporter says so then it must be journalism of the highest order, right?
Amazing how this is just now coming out now, almost SEVEN months after the fact!
In other news…who the F**K cares?
I’m far more concerned with the entanglements between Cruz, the Big Banks, and the billionaire backing him who’s facing a possible 10 BILLION tax debt. Why would he want to own a politician who says he’ll get rid of the IRS?
And we’ve just learned that Hillary had ABOVE TOP SECRET information on her home-spun, unsecured server! Likely every agent mentioned in those materials has been compromised, “but what possible difference does it make?”
And that dirty old tree-hugging, Marx loving hippy loser Sanders is suggesting a 20 TRILLION dollar spending orgy! I guess because Obama hasn’t destroyed our economy as much as Bernie wants.
I shared this because I know people don’t like it when candidates buy people or use plants to cheer for them.
Another conservative site that is going to have problems if Trump becomes the nominee.
How do you support the GOP candidate after you’ve stooped so low in the ratf*cking?
And if the answer is “I’m not going to support that guy,” well…
At least he pays better than the DNC
The site posted a link to the Hollywood Reporter that had the story.
This isn’t about the site, it’s about the story.
edit: And I hat tipped them. Because that’s what you’re supposed to do.
It’s possible that Trump, in June, astroturfed.
By August he was getting tens of thousands of people at rallies.
Good business decision, or slimy?
It’s up to the people to decide.
Would it turn me off to the point of not supporting him against Hillary or Sanders?
Do I seem deranged to anyone out there?
Sorry you all feel this way. But if stuff that happened a week or years ago is relevant to a candidate’s background, bad or good, I think it should be shown, no?
If you want me to stop posting “negative” things about all candidates, let me know.
From the people who brought you “Steve Jobs” and “Mordecai,” not to mention “Rock the Casbah” and “Tomorrowland” comes “Trump: The Non-Scandal.” In “Trump: The Non-Scandal,” a Republican Presidential contender pays people to show at at an early rally (as opposed to a certain Democrat Presidential candidate who forces staffers – paid and unpaid – to do the same thing at most of her rallys). Witness the intrigue of people paid $50 to wear t-shirts and wave placards! Follow the path of a Presidential candidate who discovered that he no longer had to pay people to show up, but instead had to turn people away from large venues! Chill to the spectacle of a candidate forcing homeless people into freezing temperatures so he can promote socialism for the downtrodden…uh, nevermind, that’s “8 Mile – That’s How Far Away From Me You Need To Be: The Bernie Sanders Story.” Thrill to the intrigues of a candidate who is so sloppy, indecisive, egotistical and/or vindictive that people die and lives are ruined…uh, never mind again – that’s Hillary.
So watch “Trump: The Non-Scandal” because we in Hollywood have absolutely no problem trotting out old crap you’ve seen before and recyling them as “reboots.”
ooooooo, I’m sure you realized how open you left your flank with that question, Fur, as you hit “post comment”. 🙂
Yesterday I thought it would only be a matter of time before someone here would post this story. It was “news” back in June. It was debunked sometime in early July. But what to my wondering eyes should appear? Here? Of all places. Tabloid schmear of the highest quality.
I know many Cruz supporters detest Sundance at The Last Refuge, but he did a debunking piece on this a couple weeks ago (?). Seems the “guy” who tweeted or FB’d his good fortune of receiving Trump Bucks, was also FB’ing about getting out of the house to shovel snow as soon as he could get off his sofa — at the same time he was *allegedly* attending a Trump event.
True or false? Meh. If true, at least he paid them with his own money and not from the Community Chest.
Next Up: Trump exploits dancing, singing “Freedom Girls” — Creepy, creepy, creeepy!
Yes, but not about that.
MJA,
We should post negative and positive stories about all the candidates.
The responses to the stories are going to be negative and positive.
But at the end of the day (I think we can agree that this phrase stinks on ice) we must support Trump or Cruz in the general.
People are becoming too polarized in this Trump/Cruz battle.
I can remember a month ago people were having spontaneous orgasms over the notion of a Trump/Cruz ticket.
Now when the candidates are vying for the top spot the other guy is a complete asshole that they will never ever vote for.
Really?
It worked, Good business decision
What good is a cheering on….if it doesn’t emanate from the heart?
Sure, go ahead and expose the warts; after all, there aren’t many Democrats here so cover-ups aren’t necessary. Although many politicians do engage in shenanigans to increase crowd size, including paying people to show up, forcing staffers to augment the crowd, and jockeying camera angles to make it seem like a crowd is larger than it is.
What, no Trump Phones?
I agree with MJA.
It’s been my observation that Cruz supporters must accept their negative Cruz stories, and Cruz must accept them, without lashing back, because he is not afforded the same privilege that Trump is when he lashed back.
Trump lashes back in whatever manner he wishes and his polling goes up.
Cruz lashes out and he is condemned and painted as thin-skinned and his demeanor is questioned.
We can call this Asshole Privilege.
But, it’s the state of the situation.
Trump has that going for him, like it or not.
Wyatt — that’s pretty funny! Especially the Sanders Story.
Is That all they got on him????If that’s it, good on him. Lighten up guys.
Trump employing people right out of the gate. Nice!
I recall this “news” back when it happened. I thought it was funny that a person who hoped to get enough votes to win the Presidency had to augment his small “announcement” crowd by adding a few paid extras. I watched as he progressed from that little crowd, to sizable crowds to MASSIVE crowds. And never has it been said that he paid any extras beyond that one time. Sooo, nothingburger. He doesn’t carry his “crowd” around in his tour bus, as some of them do.
So Trump paid $50 an hour? That’s more than SEIU pays our government public servants to demonstrate at McDonald’s.
Funny, how we were so pissed off months ago, frustrated with the system, frustrated with the GOP and now we have TWO ANTI-Establishments candidates and the “NOBODY BUT MY GUY” people (both camps are guilty) want to BLOW IT.
STOP DIVIDING US.
Trump or Cruz will do JUST FINE blowing up the GOP establishment. The GOP REAPED what they SOW and you begot Trump along with Cruz. You should be HAPPY!
STOP with the Trump (or Cruz) is the anti-Christ CRAP.
YOU’RE HELPING Hillary/Bernie.

What happened to “esteemed”? You wear it well. 🙂
Because I enjoy so much MJA’s great sense of humor, I actually laughed when I saw the headline. I figured true, or false, she posted it for some fun. We can’t be thin skinned, we can laugh at and about every one of them! I’m Trump all the way, no more bought off politicians, but I can still laugh!
Someone told me it was “steamed” and then another wrote it could be “reamed” – I can’t keep changing the disclaimer – I’ll get fired.
I’m not so sure, anymore, if clamping a lid down on peoples’ candidate passion is even doable. The very unfortunate part of it all is that, for whatever reason, we are incapable of having a purely Lincoln/Douglas or even a quasi-Socratic dialogue. At some point it breaks down into poo slinging of the kind exhibited by Obamabots — remember those zombie YT vids? Hilarious on South Park, not so funny in a forum made up of people who have come to know each other as well as any blog personality can be known.
I’ve noticed, too, that when the barbs start zinging, threads lose about 80% of regular commenters, and I miss them, their insights. I’m sure it’s intimidating to many to think they may become a target if they have an opinion one way or another on a candidate. And for anyone who came up against the likes of the KOS crowd, got email from MoveOn.org or was personally visited by one of obama’s paid community justice Brown Shirts during his first election, the thought of going through that again rivals the pain of gallbladder stones (been there, done that — on all counts).
What’s to be done? Can we attempt a more civil, fact-based dialogue or will I get flamed for suggesting it?

Agree, Gladys…Typical leftist prog propaganda.
Besides, people who support Trump have better things to do than read about Hollywood gossip, and slobber over pictures of celebrities, then faun over the stupid fucking names that celebs give their offspring….
all this constant coverage makes me wonder what preezy oblowme’s up to while everyone’s occupied with another piece of candy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2C0ZZ_UwAo
With taxpayer money.
I think I know why she posted it.
I think it’s a statement about sites that go full bore for one of the leaders in the race, and get butthurt when there’s something negative written about them, or something positive is written about the other guy.
There is no “BIG SCANDAL” that is going to be written about Trump or Cruz in order to “kill” them.
But try and try and try these people do.
And react and react and react with either outrage or fist pumps is what happens.
The primaries can’t end quickly enough for me.
I’m for Crump or Truz.
I’m not into the effort to kill one or the other to the point of people saying it’s their guy or they are sitting out.
Wow, that just gets to me on a level that is more than just frustrating.
MJA – you posted something that may possibly be negative to Trump. Therefore you must be destroyed! LOL. Can’t win, girl.
I have a headache.
