Aluminum foil is a universal replacement fuse.

If they are incandescents I put in a diode. Dims them down a bit and they’ll last forever!

Never found the fuse to be the problem. Off they go to the recycling center!

We put a diode across the on-off switch of the 5 tube AC/DC radio. It was an ‘instant on’ feature that kept the filaments running at lower voltage.
Since the filaments were stressed less the tubes lasted 8 times longer!

We throw them in the campfire. Nice colors in the flames for hours.

Where do you get those fuses?
You have to travel to China.

Each string came with replacement fuses taped to it when new, along with extra bulbs. I always put them into a box that I keep with the strings in my attic.
I also save a few good bulbs and fuses from failed strings before I discard them.

Hmmm. The diameter of the fuse is very close to a common carpentry nail. A desperate person could try cutting sections of a nail to length and dropping them into the fuse slot…

I didn’t watch the whole thing.
Did he TEST the fuses? Why not?
What amp/voltage rating are the fuses?
2
It’s true, keep them, they will be used to hang the Congress Felons.

The fuses look about the size of 4P nails. Just cut the shank to size.

Loco – Fuse testing:
Connect across a 12 Volt battery
If it blows, it worked, then throw it into the GOOD box.
Kinda like testing matches…

The fuses are never the problem. They are a fucktard idea from some fucktard safety engineer who should be castrated on live TV.
If you needed a video for that YOU are a fucktard, too!
People have become helpless pathetic bullshit.
FUCK YOU!

Erik here blowing a fuse over a long-dead safety bureaucrat.
Plenty of live ones need a good beating…

The fuse is called a “GMA” style fuse.
Yes the 1N4007 diode works well to dim
down the lights.

BTW= I only use C7 & C9 old style
lights.Easy to change the bulbs.

Since when does a single-phase AC circuit NEED TWO FUSES?
3
A few days after Christmas these lights sell for next to nothing. Use them for 2-3 years at most and then replace them.

My last set of Christmas tree lights went up in flames with the tree.

Some times the fuses are hidden in the plug in a pull out, if you can find the drawer/flap. Or wrap the old fuse in 1 layer of tin foil…install when the power is off/unplugged. Also save old strings of lights, sometimes you can match up the bulbs for replacements.
1
Trash them and go to Lowe’s for after Christmas sale.

Jethro 8 penny sinker works great. But it is never the fuse always a bulb.
Loco 3 amp fuse. They need 2 because one wire is a traveler to light up the next fifty bulbs.
You must never have put lights up on the out side of your house, lots of fun the next year when they all work when put away and then half of them are dead or half a strand works. I hate them mini lights. We have a mix of C7 and C9 and mini lights. C7 C9 incandescent are still the best.
I have about five thousand lights on our house this year cut back a little. Looks great.

GFI outlets outside are a real pain in the rain here in Seattle.

I happen to know the battles Geoff C. The Saltine fights day to day. I’ll take him as the authority in this discussion. Me, I just rip metal.
