Dumbass Matty Healey of The 1975 – IOTW Report

Dumbass Matty Healey of The 1975

I like to keep up with new music. Listening to the same old stuff can sometimes be a drag. There is a group called The 1975. I had to go to Spotify to make sure I didn’t have anything in it that would be supportive of this moron. I had 2 songs. They are gone.

The lead singer, Matty Healey, is a dumbass. Most people you enjoy in the arts can likely be a leftist. If you don’t know for sure, that’s a good thing. But when a moron opens his mouth and removes all doubt, that’s another thing.

Pink Floyd is hard to listen to because of Roger Waters. Is it because he is an antisemite? Not really. It’s because he denies being an antisemite. I’m not going to listen to someone simultaneously arrogant and dumb.

What did Healy do? Is it because he bucked Malaysian laws on homosexuality and kissed a bandmate on the mouth on stage during a concert? No.

It’s because of these things –

Wiki- Healy is outspoken on climate change issues. In 2020, he invited Greta Thunberg to record a speech about climate change for a 1975 track. Conservative MP David Davies accused Healy of “hypocrisy” given his touring schedule but Healy responded: “The idea that no one should say anything or try to help if they haven’t 100% figured out how to be carbon neutral, along with the rest of the world, is a really illogical way of thinking about the problem.”[222]

Healy and the 1975 use an “eco-management” company when touring; a tree is planted for every ticket sold in their Music for Cars tour, the crew catering is sustainable, there are no plastic, and an area is set up in each venue where people can learn about “proper recycling”.[28] The band’s four shows at the O2 Arena in London in 2024 will mark the world’s first-ever carbon-removed events.[223] This involves carbon dioxide generated by the events being sucked out of the air, as well as planting trees and spreading carbon dioxide-absorbing volcanic rock on farmland.[224]

I just planted a few trees. STFU and leave me alone.

Also-

Healy has spoken about young men being radicalised into anti-feminist communities: “I do know that the right wing is more successful with the acquiring of young men than the left is, and as somebody who’s definitely on the left, it’s interesting to watch, because the left don’t seem to have [an] ideal masculinity, whereas the right have a very, very easy one.” He has remarked that in contemporary pop culture, the celebrated man is “some meta-performance piece about deconstruction”: “The only form of masculinity that is celebrated is one that deconstructs it. So: in a dress. I don’t know what it is to be a man if you’re not just deconstructing being a man and having that [be] celebrated.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can he be dumber?
Yes he can –
While onstage in Denmark in 2023, Healy referred to comedians and social critics George CarlinBill Hicks and Lenny Bruce as “staples of the left” and his “heroes” who exposed social hypocrisy with vulgarity, adding: “I do feel that if the left loses its ability to fuck shit up then we leave too much space for the right.”[195]
~~~~~~~~~~~

That’s how he defines himself, as a person who “fucks shit up” in order to not leave space for other people not fucking shit up.

And one other thing: I am sick of leftists “claiming” people as “their own” in order to have some appeal from “higher authority”– namely “nitwits.”

The day I listen to someone else to form my own opinions is the day I become a leftist.

But having said that, here is Healey’s hero-

  1. ^^ Ugh. Couldn’t stand Rush. Only thing worse during their hey day was ONE song from Gordon Lightfoot.

    Let’s just say it was a wreck for me, start to finish.

    I’ll never own or rent any song from The 1975. You have to try harder than that.

    They are Band-a non grata to me.

  2. Gave up on most music since Moody Blues, CCR, Statler Bros, Patsy, Dan Fogelberg and good old country. Nearly all vinyl went to garbage CD’s and MP3. Today’s artists are mostly liberal communists charging hundreds to watch live and making you pay to listen online to their crap.

  3. I hope that was Patsy Cline, I really didn’t like her growing up because my dad was always listening to country music on KSPO AM 1230 and I thought I was too cool for country music then except for Johnny Cash and the Statler Brothers with Flowers on the wall which is a classic. As I’ve gotten older, I appreciate Patsy Cline’s music more now especially Crazy (written by Willie Nelson) and I Fall To Pieces which can still make me cry if I’m in the right melancholy mood. My 42-year-old son even likes the old country music as well just like his grandfather and myself. Patsy Cline died in a plane crash in 1963 when I was 10 along with Cowboy Copas who had a great country song called Alabam.

  4. Most of the bands I listen to are all long ago broken up and can’t comment on current affairs, thank goodness.

    I try listening to new stuff but fall back into my niche. Then, I’ll listen to pre programmed music while I row. Its new “electronic” stuff- but that section right there- stolen directly from Depeche Mode. So, why bother with new stuff. 🫤
