Election Year Bridge Building – IOTW Report

Election Year Bridge Building

Minneapolis Star Tribune

The aging Blatnik Bridge, the main connector between Duluth and Superior that is due for a rebuild, has received $1 billion in federal funding, Gov. Tim Walz said Monday afternoon.

“Big news for Minnesota,” Walz said on X, formerly known as Twitter. “This investment will foster regional economic growth, strengthen our national supply chains, and improve the safety and reliability of our transportation network.” More

Joe’s coming to the twin ports on Thursday, in case anyone failed to make the connection. Here

What they’re not telling you, there’s already another bridge that connects Duluth and Superior, the Bong Bridge.

  1. They do the same shit here in MO. Some decrepit shit nobody cared about since 1931 that goes from some shithole to some other shithole.

“AWW, WE (who is this WE shit?) got this bridge going that nobody cared about! For 15 million dollars! We (who is this WE, again?) painted it green!”

    MODOT SUCKS

  2. Oh, MODOT spent millions and millions on widening MO Rt 5. Nobody asked for this. 5 was wide enough to get off, sometimes, and now it’s wide enough to get off, sometimes, and it costs the taxpayer billions.

  3. Huh.

Normally they go to the wrong side of the Ohio River where the Communism is better, and tell lies about the Brent Spence (I-75) bridge, like they have for the last 50 years.

    Weird.

Maybe later, closer to the OH primary.

    (still not replaced, BTW…)

  4. “Investment?”
Are the taxpayers gonna get some kind of return?
Not some return like somebody else paying more taxes, but like money in the pocket?
Of course not. The gov’t squanders the labor of the taxpayers – it never returns anything – except for keeping the slaves in line.

    I smell BULLSHIT!

Lying liars lying about plundering the Treasury for political gain.

  5. OT The BONG bridge is named after Richard “Dick” Ira Bong the WWII leading ace flying the Lockheed P 38 Lightning. He was born in Poplar, WI. and there is a museum in his honor in Superior, WI.

Thanks for that, looked him up. Absolutely amazing guy, weathers the worst of combat, wins ALL the medals, then goes stateside and dies in a test flight 2 days before the war ends. What a wonderful and tragic story, surprised they still have a bridge named after a heroic White guy and haven’t made it Jussie Smollet Way or some such…

…also, glad I didn’t go with my first impulse and goof on the name “Bong”. I’ll never refer to a pot pipe with that word again…
