Elvis’ Bicentennial S&W Revolver Goes for Nearly $200,000

Breitbart

Elvis Presley’s prized Smith & Wesson Model 53 revolver sold at auction for $199,750 after the gun was expected to sell for under $100,000.

TMZ reported that Presley’s revolver is customized — via gold and silver inlays — with a Betsy Ross flag, “five-pointed stars and a bald eagle,” as well as the Liberty Bell.  Near the end of the barrel, on both sides of the gun, is a gold inlay that reads, “1776-1976.” More

  1. The 53 is an interesting revolver. Unfortunately it was out of production after a short period because people who bought them couldn’t follow instructions. It was shipped with two cylinders, one in 22 Jet an a second cylinder in 22LR. So long as the 22 Jet cylinder is kept clean and free of oil they work well. If the cylinder isn’t absolutely clean the case walls don’t grip the chamber and the brass slips back and after expanding the cylinder will not rotate because case heads are wedged tight to the recoil shield.

  2. I imagine he could claim the machine gun was needed for his personal security.

It’s a scary thought though of what a drugged-out Elvis would have done with a loaded machine gun.

  3. He took up bullseye shooting and outfitted his entire entourage with target pistols, I believe they were Colt Gold Cups, and built an indoor shooting range at Graceland. I ran into a guy who Elvis had come coach them.

  4. He bagged a Detomasso Panterra, I don’t blame him one bit though, anyone who’s ever ridden any distance in one of the sonsabitches would be tempted. You sit inches in front of a 351 Cleveland that is simultaneously trying to roast you on the hoof and deafen you.
