This was sent to me yesterday, and it is so smart.
Emmett Till, for anyone who needs a refresher, was a 14 year-old boy who was murdered after being falsely accused, by Carolyn Bryant, of whistling and making untoward physical advances at her. She later recanted her story saying it was highly embellished.
This would be highly effective if it was directed toward anyone that possessed a rational mind. Unfortunately the target audience wouldn’t recognize the irony or would ignore it.
She never was punished, was she?
Carol Connelly: “How do you write women so well?”
Melvin Udall: “I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.”
He’s right you know

Ouch…..that’s gonna leave a mark.
I knew there had to be a good reason for the Progs to strip “To Kill a Mockingbird” from school library shelves and curriculum.
It’s all starting to make sense.
Thirdtwin… I have been thinking about that scene too. For anyone else who cares… it’s from:: As Good As It Gets.
Genius script. 🙂
Aw… jeez, I just saw the video link. GREAT casting on that chick’s part, too.
You can’t believe anything Emmett says, he’s not a SURVIVOR!
Third twin: It wasn’t Carol the waitress who asked Melvin that question. It was the receptionist at his publisher’s office.
And Pops’ story has a better message
“Emmett Till’s father, Louis, was a violent criminal who as a conscripted man wound up raping at least two Italian women and murdering a third. Till Senior was executed by the US Army in Summer 1945, one of about 100 US soldiers executed by the Army during WW2 for violent acts against local populations in the conflict.”
