Eric Adams Reverses NYC Sanctuary Policy, Brings ICE Back to Rikers

Daily Fetched

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has reversed a 10-year sanctuary policy for his city by allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to resume operations at Rikers Island.

ICE agents will now be able to target criminal gangs and drug trafficking in the city.

ICE, along with other federal law enforcement agencies, previously had a presence on the detention island, frequently transferring illegal immigrants into federal custody for deportation.

By 2014, however, ICE was evicted from the island under the city’s sanctuary city law.

Under Tuesday’s executive order, ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations division will now be authorized to establish an office at Rikers to collaborate on targeting violent criminals, gangs, and drug trafficking. more

  1. Adams seems to be trying to walk back all of the lefty stuff he’s done in the past. I think what he’ll accomplish is earning EVERYBODY’S contempt.

That said, I’m glad to see NYC and ICE start to get along again.

  2. He’s capitulating to the MAGA agenda because President Trump saved him from Democrat lawfare. Adams is desperate to stay out of prison. He’ll do whatever the Trump Administration wants him to do.
