Erick Erickson Admits Bizarre Abortion Opinion

Erick Erickson is against abortion, unless the woman is raped, then it’s okay to murder the baby.

I’ve often said Erick Erickson is dumb.

Believe me now?

We are now seeing that a lot of the pro-life movement is not really pro-life. They have been able to advance political careers by claiming they loved Jesus and babies while knowing the Supreme Court would give them cover.

Now, as pro-lifers across the country, push for new pro-life legislation, these people are being exposed.

I do, however, want to confess something about myself.

I am okay with an exception for rape when it comes to abortion.

Some people carve out exceptions for abortion when the life of the mother would be endangered by the pregnancy.

Erickson defends his decision by trying to piggyback on the “danger to the woman” exception by claiming women would kill themselves if they had to carry to term.

I also know women who were victims of rape who psychologically would have rather killed themselves than go through nine months of what they view as hell. And I do not think we, as a society, should put the survivor of a traumatic event in a position where she is contemplating suicide because we in the pro-life community think it is an easy call.

In our conversations on this issue, many of us treat this as simple — save the life of the child. In talking about it that way, we often forget that there is another victim who did not ask for this.

Um, most women who seek abortions say they “did not ask” for the baby. What do you say to them, as opposed to the women who claim they would kill themselves if they had to have a rapist’s baby?

What do you say to any woman who claims they will kill themselves even if they are not raped?

While I am perfectly comfortable telling someone they cannot kill their child because they engaged in behavior that ultimately amounted to irresponsible or selfish behavior, I just cannot bring myself to tell a victim she must continue to suffer.

And just a quick note — yes, yes require a police report, prosecution of the prepetrator, and prohibit abortions after twenty weeks in all cases. While I am okay with the rape exception, I am not okay with allowing people to claim rape when they weren’t just to get out of a pregnancy.

Too bad for the women who can’t prove their rape.

Erickson is all for the government determining who gets to murder their baby or not.

  1. I have a friend and former co-worker who was raped and impregnated. She carried the baby to term and raised her on her own. That child is now a married young woman looking forward to starting her own family.

To snuff out a life for any reason is wrong. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be in that situation. I never asked my friend about that but I admire her understanding that the life inside (of which half of its DNA came from her) has value and is worthy of fighting for.

  2. Hmm… Let someone who threatens suicide kill themselves? Or help them commit a(nother) murder? So they can spend a lifetime voting? For people who promise to help them commit more murders? Well, I know what Jesus would do. (And it’s not just because he’s a Zeta! You racist!)

  3. I wouldnt wa t to carry a rapist’s child. I’d hate it, for one, and second: who wabts that scum in the gene pool?

All that aside, erikson has made himself irrelevant.

  4. In the UK, when a muzzie rapes a woman, the woman has to share custody and give him visitation rights after the baby is born. So she is forced to interact with her rapist and watch her child being brainwashed into a death cult the rest of her life.

  5. If you report the rape and or go to a hospital to report the rape (and to be checked out for infections, etc), are you not offered some form of abortion pill as well as antibiotics just in case?
Why does PP do abortions for rape victims but do not report rapists? Even when pre-teens show up. I’ve seen news reports, listened to interviews, so don’t anybody tell me PP reports them to parents or authorities. Because 99% of the time, they don’t. So where’s the raped female’s rights if PP is going to send them back to their abusers?

  6. Gladys, thank you for remembering this. This is more complicated than people think. It is also why once the liberals are defeated, we will be at war with each other. There are many people here ready to impose their will on others.

  7. Another example of making “good” the enemy of “perfect”.

Of course most women get abortions for lifestyle reasons and less than one percent of actual abortions performed are on rape victims. Pro-aborts like to focus on the rare rape victim to conflate those real abortions done by women who can’t be inconvenienced or don’t want anything that might de-rail their career. Erickson clumsily falls into this trap.

    But what he also said was this;

“Restricting abortion is a good thing. It is killing a human being. But restricting abortion without helping mothers and children is cruel. A healthy pro-life community will step up and move beyond restrictions on abortion towards greater social and community support for mothers with nowhere to turn.”

Defunding Planned Parenthood is not enough, pro-lifers must face the reality that unwanted pregnancies will still exist with or without Roe. We must have a firm interest in helping these scared, invariably depressed lonely single mothers in any way we can, not just local churches and synagogues, but funding pro life pregnancy centers using the same money that was going to PP. We can’t be just pro-life, we have to be pro-women and our compassion must match our rhetoric.

  8. In the U.K. when a Muzzie rapes a woman, she can hide her pregnancy, protect the baby from the monster, and quietly put the child up for adoption. Unusual circumstances, based on laws in another country, don’t convince me. We either believe in the sanctity of life, or we don’t. People who use “But what if…” arguments aren’t really pro-life. They are saying a life is precious in one situation, but not in another. That’s absurd.

  9. You don’t even have to be anti-abortion to see the absurdity in this dumbphuck’s position.

I remember not really knowing too much about Erick Erickson when I heard he was getting a position on the Tee Vee.
I was excited because it was a blogger, and I felt bloggers should have a more prominent voice because they represented the new media.

Ten seconds in, when this guy began to speak, I knew he was an imbecile, and he single handedly set back the new media 5 years.

So, it’s gonna cost you the same, either way. Same hand-outs to the communalist voters, either way. Why don’t you just keep payin’ your professional betters to keep on keepin’ on? Bein’ better than you? It’s so much easier that way. You want easier, don’t you loyal citizen? You want to pay along, to get along? Don’t you loyal citizen?

  11. Erickson can never just stake out a position using known common arguments and established facts. He must find the “Erickson Twist” to an issue which will allow him to smirk smugly at the pedestrian minds on either side of him. There is always something which everybody else has missed and only he can find. And he can NEVER admit he’s wrong. Trump wrecked him bad, and it shows every time he opens his pouch-hole.

Texas Bubba, do you remember a guy named “Speciallist” at RedState? He was a big instigator there, funny as hell, before he got BFred like you. I was there until just after the Romney Dive, then walked away after a big argument with a mod who hated Tommy Robinson. It was time to go.

“So, it’s gonna cost you the same, either way. Same hand-outs to the communalist voters, either way.”

Costs are not determinant; one outlay promotes murder and infanticide while the other assures the sancitiy of life and provides help for needy mothers that are doing the right thing, surely you can see the difference.

Tell me what YOU think society’s role is in helping the needy, the indigent, the sick and the scared single mother who is ill equipped to handle an unwanted pregnancy on her own. You can’t just be pro-life (if in fact you are), if you are going to force her to carry that baby to term, don’t just abandon her and her baby after conception. What kind of society do you want, or are you one of those ,”F*CK ’em, she is the one that got knocked up, what does that have to do with me?” types.

I’ll tell on the train. Oh, just leave your luggage on the platform. It’ll be sent along later.

So you have no answers, opinions or anything intelligent to contribute, OK, just checking.

  15. Many women who are raped do not look at their child as a reminder of their rape and look at their child the same way any real Mother looks at their child. With many saying it was God turning a horrible situation into a blessing.

As for government money vs society money on helping these women, there are many pregnancy and women centers across the country that help these women and they do not receive one cent from the government and it’s all volunteers and donations. On the other hand it’s really stupid with all our government hands out to say a woman can’t raise her child on her own financially. The government will give her a roof over her head, welfare, wic, food stamps, health care and free child care. Then there are programs everywhere that exist from government grants that will pay utilities and pay for diapers and some even will give them clothes.
That is another lie that we don’t care about them after they’re born, society and the government already does care for them.

  16. I would not want a law in place to force someone who was raped or impregnated by incest to be forced to carry their little miracle to term.

That is a cruel and unusual punishment for something they had no choice in doing.

Not being responsible for your own birth control and getting pregnant is a different matter.
