The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) recently encouraged teachers to register for training that encourages “ethnomathematics” and argues, among other things, that White supremacy manifests itself in the focus on finding the right answer.
An ODE newsletter sent last week advertises a Feb. 21 “Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course,” which is designed for middle school teachers to make use of a toolkit for “dismantling racism in mathematics.” The event website identifies the event as a partnership between California’s San Mateo County Office of Education, The Education Trust-West and others.
Part of the toolkit includes a list of ways “white supremacy culture” allegedly “infiltrates math classrooms.” Those include “the focus is on getting the ‘right’ answer,” students being “required to ‘show their work,'” and other alleged manifestations. More

Back in the days of slavery it was illegal to teach a Black to read or write, let alone do math. If slaves (or ex-slaves) could read/write and do math then they would be able to truly understand their plight and could do something to improve it. Thus the idea was to keep the slaves ignorant and stupid and dependent on their masters.
It appears that today the same thing is being done in our schools (no longer to blacks but to all races). Forget teaching them anything useful. Teach them about oppression and systemic whatever to keep the hatred smoldering. That way the government masters will be able to count on them for votes and will not have to worry about them thinking for themselves.

And JDHasty, I agree with you about school back in the late 60’s and early 70’s, I would only be there if I had to be, it got me into a lot of trouble but also kept me from becoming a future sheeple. And I believe and know that I turned out to be well adjusted without their help of trying to indoctrinate me even back then. I’ve been a life long self learner and there’s nothing wrong with that.
