It would take to long to implement what the Israelis have. I’m not saying they shouldn’t try. But mean while Nation Wide Carry, and no gun free zones would stop a lot of this. Eight years ago I had the opportunity to hunt in Wyoming. I took a rifle, shotgun and pistol with me in a single heavy-duty travel case. With all the hyped up “security” measures at airports nationwide I could not believe the process for checking firearms.
Firearms (unloaded) in a lockable case with lock and key.
Ammo must be in original box, but can be in the same locked case as the firearm.
Arrive at check-in counter and announce your intent to check a firearm.
Fill out some forms.
Get this…..open the case in front of everyone around you to show the clerk.
Wait outside the check-in terminal for a TSA guy to come interview you. If nobody shows up in 1/2 hour go to your gate.
When I popped that case open people around me gasped in horror. They had no idea what was going on.
This proved to me that all the security stuff was just another gubmint ruse created by politicians to convince their subjects that they care.

It would’nt be a stretch to imagine that this kid was backed by someone to exploit one of the tiny holes in airport security in order to get some last gun control legislation. After all, the kid had absolutely nothing to lose. Where did he get the money to do this? The air trip from Alaska to Florida alone is expensive. I imagine we will never know, and hopefully there will be no new legislation.
I listened to Jennifer Griffin’s report last night (and I do listen to her). I am pretty sure she said that he was “separated” from the Alaska National Guard around 2007 for “poor performance.” He then joined the Puerto Rico National Guard and he went to Iraq 2010-2011 which was a very low injury time for our troops. I didn’t write down what she said but I know I am close. Interesting that this uncovered MySpace comes around the time he was booted from the ANG.
