Fast and Furious 8 filming in Havana

Cuban citizens have been complaining about the blocked streets and being late for work thanks to the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise – Fast 8.

Reports are that Cuba is providing the backstory for the origin of Vin Diesel’s character, Dominic Toretto.

Personally, I look forward to the car chases, using more than 50 year-old Chevy’s kept running by improvising with soup cans and odds and end parts from other makes.

Actually it looks like principle shooting was done in NYC, which politically isn’t far removed from Castro’s Caribbean paradise.

  1. Ohhh yeah.. of course, and we all know the worker’s paradise of Cuba is going to be loaded with fast, hopped up rides! /s

Oh never mind, they can’t even get a carb for an old 50’s junk pile there lolol sigh.. Viva socialism!

  2. I will add this to the first 7 I didn’t care to watch. Vin is fine in SciFi but I just don’t see glamorizing auto theft. There are plenty of people who drive too fast right here on the interstate.

  3. I had 2 53 Chevy’s growing up both with an inline 216 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine. One had a 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission, the other had a 3 speed manual (3 in a tree) transmission. neither one was very fast but they were reliable and damned near indestructible for teenage boys back in the late 60’s and early 70’s. And the clutches were easy to fix which I learned the hard way (my Dad was pissed because I was so stupid, hence I learned how to replace the clutch) by pushing my friends 6000 lb. 48 Chrysler up a hill; to get it started and smoking out and burning the clutch up. The Wash. license plate on the 2 speed Powerglide 53 Chevy was CAR 475.

  4. Old Chevys never die. I have a bunch of old carburetors boxed up in my shed that I might be willing to trade for several crates of Cuban cigars and a good chunk of cash. Kits too, throttle shaft bushings, floats, all kinds of good shit made just for the stylish Cuban Rochester, one, two, or four barrel.

    Money up front.
