Feud: Bette and Susan – IOTW Report

Feud: Bette and Susan

FX has been airing a new mini-series “Feud: Bette and Joan” about the making of “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” and the bitter rivalry between two actresses trying to save their once glamorous acting careers, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.

On a recent episode they had a clip of Susan Sarandon, who plays Bette Davis,  performing a pop song based on the movie that came from a real segment from The Andy William’s Show. The short clip gives us a chance to compare the two actresses side by side.

Jessica Lange has been doing a great Joan Crawford.

  1. Bette Davis actually seemed to be enjoying herself, Susan was just playing Bette’s disinterested persona she would use as part of her acting repertoire, but not the real Bette Davis.

  2. Sarandon still looks great, I will admit. Makes it even sadder that she’s such a complete imbecile.

By the way, the real What Ever Happened To Baby Jane is a great movie! And here are two other great ones:
Bette Davis in Dead Ringer. Joan Crawford in Mildred Pierce. Two of my favorites.

TCM is going to show Mildred Pierce Friday April 14 at 1:45 pm. They’ll be showing Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? on April 18 at 3:00 pm. I only made it through about a quarter of it, but I’m determined to watch the whole thing sometime soon. – Dr. Tar

  3. I’ve been watching this and enjoying it very much. Not that I like Sarandon, but she’s doing a great job getting the moves and the voice down as Bette Davis – my all time favorite actress!
