Daily Caller: A lobsterman says he pulled in a surprising catch Monday while fishing 20 miles off the coast of Maine.
Captain Cameron Pease of Cushing, Maine, discovered a five-foot military rocket tangled in his trawler’s rope Monday afternoon, WABI reported. Pease notified a local warden Tuesday, who contacted the Maine State Police Bomb Squad to detonate the 150-pound weapon.
Members of the bomb squad dispatched to analyze the rocket identified it as a MK29 Mod-0, according to a press release from Maine State Police. Bomb squad technicians used x-ray imaging to examine the rocket but were not able to determine if it held any explosive material, authorities said. more here
Was it the legal weight limit?
Had this been in New York costal waters, the fisherman would have been charged with possession of an explosive device and sent to Rikers Island without bail.
Were there any classified docs inside?
How far is this from where TWA Flight 800 blew up?
So thats where I left it.
Something seems fishy.
WTF?!?! Holy Shit!!
If it were me, as soon as I saw that, I’d’a cut the rope, let it drop, mark the location, THEN call the Authoritahs.
As old and as corroded as that was, just moving it or even looking at it could have set it off. As unstable as a drug deprived trannie.
That fishermen is lucky (GO BUY A LOTTO TICKET!) that he’s still alive and that he, his boat and truck are still intact.
So, you snag a missile and bring it aboard your lobster boat. What should you do next?
(a) Chant “Finders, keepers, losers weepers!”
(b) Have a hot BBQ on deck and celebrate.
(c) Sure, call any U.S. agency and report a missing missile.
(d) Open it up to see if it has red and blue wires.
(e) Throw it back and fogetaboutit.
“That fishermen is lucky (GO BUY A LOTTO TICKET!) that he’s still alive and that he, his boat and truck are still intact.” I’m afraid he used up all his luck handling the missile……
FJB
I think he should have sent it to Joe…..COD.
Wonder if it was one of the shots that missed TWA Flight 800?
Dry it off, paint a target on it, lay it down in fields in Bakhmut and run with the others.
We’ll take it from there.
Back in 1984, I was running a team installing cable at Clark AB. One of my NCOs dug up a 37mm anti tank round. I showed up and he held it up like it was a prize winning fish. I told him to put it down real gentle and back away. EOD blew it in place.
