KFI: A street sweeper operator was killed in Florida after he was sucked underneath his sanitation vehicle Saturday morning. Authorities say the unidentified man became entangled while trying to clear something stuck underneath the machine.
Witnesses say they heard the man crying for help, but by the time rescuers had come to help he was unresponsive. Police say there was no foul play involved.
That’s appalling! Can you imagine knowing you’re about to die in such an embarrassing way?

I grew up and around heavy farm equipment.
It tolerates no stoopidity, period.
Knew one guy lost his arm in a round bailer
trying to clear it, knew anther family their
daughter lost her head because her hair became
entangled in a PTO shaft coupling. That was goddamn
terrible.
There are procedures for that, he was stupid
enough to ignore them. I hope for the sake of his
family he had insurance.
I’ve seen those things in action and that is no way for someone to die. RIP sir.
Why didn’t he turn everything off and then go fishing for the obstruction?

This is exactly why most municipal employees refuse to do ANY-fukkin-THING!
If the equipment is never started, it’s a helluva lot safer.
TURN IT OFF to work on it – I’ve got the scars to prove it. Never lost any body parts, but close enough to teach me THAT lesson.
