Starting next week [Sunday, July 14], the price of a “Forever” stamp will increase by a nickel to 73 cents, the second time the United States Postal Service has raised the cost of postage this year.
The price of a Forever stamp has steadily climbed since they cost 41 cents when the USPS introduced them in 2007, most recently in January when the agency raised the price from 66 cents to 68 cents. More
Good thing I stocked up earlier (late last year?) before the first price bike. I have enough to last me awhile.
Forever means something different to the beurocratic machine….
I had my identity stolen in 2000and it was expensive to correct, so it will be a cold day in hell before I ever do online banking to pay my bills…
What kind of time warp are you in? “Starting next week (yesterday)…..”
It was the only way I could figure out within the article how to inform the reader that the rate hike had started the day before which was that day but is now yesterday. – Dr. Tar
That’s just great: an extra nickel for them to lose your bills. I hate doing things auto pay or online or having my bank accounts with online access. I reluctantly pay $2 a month to receive a paper statement from a bank that offers the best interest. GA’s postal service has become so messed up when you always pay bills early and they are’nt received on time and call they say it happens all the time and charge you extra to pay it then on a credit card to get rid of the late fee, then you can pay another $35 to cancel the check so a post office DEI hire that can’t get your mail right but can figure out how to wash the check and empty your bank account.
They cut down on bulk/junk mail delivery and reduced Saturday mail and still have to have increases.
dei inefficiency costs more
In Philly, folks with PO boxes no longer have 24-hour access to their mail.
The homeless camp out inside post office buildings after business hours, pooping and pee’ing, and forcing management to lock the doors after 5 o’clock weekdays, limit Saturday hours and close all day Sunday.
Box rental isn’t cheap and our rental contract calls for 24-hour access to our boxes/mail.
Not holding my breath for rent rates to be adjusted downward. 🙁
PITA
The US is still minting pennies. Does anybody really expect gov’t efficiency?
My ‘puter’z tarded calculator was unable to cipher, (as Jethro Bodine would say,) the Forever Stamp inflation rate; but, butt … Google Sheets gave me what I sought:
2007 to 2024 Forever Stamp inflation . . . 3.45%
2024 to 2024 Forever Stamp inflation . . . 15.25%
Biden’s lying liars who are telling you that inflation
is running at a clip of about three-and-a-half percent
have failed to inform the U.S. Post Office of the
appropriate price adjustment to support “the narrative.”
That’s the worst thing about forever stamps. They can raise the price any time they want to without a lot of hype and fanfare.
Six or seven years ago I started paying all my bills online. Prior to that I sent out a check. I was done with the constant price hikes to build post offices on sweetheart deals with political insiders and even though I bought stamps because my brother is a postman… I’m done after two price increases back to back.
I bought a book of stamps last year and still have forty left. I forgot I had a book I bought that was deep in my wallet that I bought a year prior. I haven’t used a half dozen stamps in the last five years.
