Founder of Never-Trump Super PAC Arrested in $60M Bribery Scheme

Breitbart: The founder of a prominent political action committee opposing President Donald Trump’s reelection was arrested on Tuesday in part of a public corruption probe.

Matthew Borges, a lobbyist and former chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, was arrested in connection to a year-long $60 million federal bribery scheme. According to prosecutors, Borges and three other lobbyists allegedly conspired with the Republican Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives to secure a $1.3 billion taxpayer bailout for an Ohio-based energy company, FirstEnergy Solutions.

Law enforcement officials claim that in exchange for helping FirstEnergy receive the bailout, which was meant to prevent the shutdown of two nuclear power plants, a nonprofit controlled by the House Speaker received $60 million.

To what extent Borges played a role in the alleged scheme remains uncertain. Prosecutors have yet to announce formally the full scale of the indictment. As the Dayton Daily News reported, however, Borges was registered as a lobbyist for FirstEnergy as of last year. MORE

  1. A lot of GWB loving Ronny hating GOPe got a trip to jail there yesterday.
But GWB has friends with “Deep” pockets. My guess is all the GOP liberals are out now!
But it will take the wind out of Rove’s sails here. At least for a short time.

the biggest GWB man; and the most liberal of the GOPe is Larry H.!
America would only be too lucky if this leftist liar set time behind bars.

  2. To anyone that lives in Seattle. You don’t want to be in Seattle this weekend. The Seattle City council has today banned the police from any crowd control tools other than their shields and batons.

The Seattle Chief of Police has today sent the Seattle City council the following:

Read it. And get the hell out of there.

  3. Thanks, Kevin R. Hopefully, Seattle will be the only Washington city affected by insanely restrained police officers this weekend.

But I’ll wager we’ll be commenting on local news this weekend – and it won’t be good.

  4. I’ll bet Scaramucci is crying on his bank statement now as I suspect that Super Pac is dead in the water. Hey, maybe a few others of note will get caught up in this if the Feds can squeeze him enough about this and especially other hi-jinks he’s been involved in or knows of.

  5. Kevin R: Since Seattle cops can’t fight back or make arrests, this would be an ideal time for citizens to rise up and take matters into their own hands, with lethal force to stop the rioters. I suggest I high window with a good field of fire. Suppressed 22 cal. would be ideal.
