Four ex-cops indicted on U.S. civil rights charges in George Floyd killing

Four former Minneapolis police officers face federal civil rights charges for their role in the arrest and murder of George Floyd, according to court documents unsealed on Friday, showing the Justice Department’s tougher stance in such cases.

A federal grand jury in Minneapolis on Thursday issued a three-count indictment charging Derek Chauvin – the white former officer convicted in Minnesota state court of murdering Floyd – and three fellow former officers of violating his constitutional rights, including his right to have his medical needs attended to.

“The defendants saw George Floyd lying on the ground in clear need of medical care, and willfully failed to aid Floyd,” the indictment says.

Also charged were Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane.

  1. …just like Rodney King…the devil isn’t creative, so he always repeats…law enforcement take note, THIS is how the Democrats YOU are protecting plan to thank ALL of you…

  2. Cops need to learn to leave Blacks alone, just stay away from them and let them do their thing in peace.

That would make everybody happy, at least everybody of any importance.

  3. I don’t know how the four could have continued their “observation” of what was going on without some level of intervention.. Were it I, knowing the crowd and George were desperate for help, I would have rolled him over, knowing those watching would step forward to help.

  4. Police are obligated to give aid when they have you in custody. It is a civil right regardless of of your crime. The murder charges were a stretch, but depriving of liberty and not rendering aid are legit.

  5. Ah, the old “Let’s call it something else and try them for the same thing they have already been (or will be) tried for” routine.

Why not save the tax payers money and eliminate all pretence. Just declare them guilty. Tell us there was a trial and charge them with perjury if they say there wasn’t.
