Freed Hostage Praises Trump Upon Returning Home After Years In Captivity

Daily Caller-

George Glezmann, an airline mechanic held hostage by the Taliban, praised President Donald Trump Friday upon his return from two-and-a-half years in captivity.

The U.S. State Department secured Glezmann’s release through negotiations with the Taliban in Qatar Thursday after his family spent years pleading with former President Joe Biden’s administration to free him. The now-freed hostage, who was taken hostage in December 2022 when visiting Afghanistan, credited Trump for his freedom.

“I feel born again, I’m in debt with the president. President Trump is amazing, you know, thank God he is in the White House where he got me out,” Glezmann said. “Marco Rubio, Mike Waltz, Adam Boehler. I’m in debt with everybody that was involved in this situation because they got me home. A free American individual [is] free from the hands of these people that abducted [me] because of my U.S. passport and I’m just thankful. I’ve got no words to express my gratitude for my liberty, my freedom.” more

  1. On 12/5/22 three Democrat senators co-sponsored a resolution to free Glezmann and others held by the Taliban. The resolution wasn’t introduced to the Senate until 7/9/2024. It was agreed to in the Senate on 8/1/2024. I couldn’t find anything else about what other actions the sponsoring senators took to help free the man.

If the American people are rarely ever aware of House or Senate resolutions, how much more unaware do they think the Taliban is of them?

It’s likely Glezmann was a Democrat. Who else would be nutty enough to travel/visit Afghanistan at that time?

  2. Trump also arranged for the release of Mark Fogel, convicted in Russia of possessing a half ounce of medically prescribed marijuana. This was after his mother had pleaded to no avail with the Biteme administration. His mother saw Trump at the Butler PA campaign rally and he assured her that he get him home.

    Promises made, promises kept.

  3. Americans who are satisfying their wanderlust or curiosity, or who defy State Department cautions about traveling to countries openly hostile to America, should face some kind of consequences when they are freed — if nothing more than to admit how ignorant they were to think they could travel safely to that country.

Not only does it cost American tax payers the time and energy of gov’t, it can also cost us critical political and negotiation leverage with bad actor countries, including having to trade real criminals for Joe Dokes.
