That’s a name I’ve heard all of my life. I hope he had a happy life. RIP sir.
Not just the Sledge-O-Matic

I always found his playing with words and spelling to be very funny. Hope he had a happy life.
“men love women to kiss their ass … ’cause we can turn around real fast!”
guy wasn’t just a funny comedian, he was an original comedian
and gilligan brandon carter still lives? WTF?
We first got cable back in the very late 70s (the kind with the switch box that sat on top of your T.V., with the big analog dial on it), and I remember watching Gallagher specials on Showtime in my early teens. Very fond memories, and I’m sad to hear of his passing.
I saw him live once. The first 4 or 5 rows had sheets of plastic draped over the back of the seats. It was a great show.
God speed dude.
Sorry to hear of his passing. He was one of the very few comedians who could make me laugh uncontrollably and bring tears of mirth to my eyes. (Maybe that had something to do with me being recreationally medicated, but whatever…!) Sledge-a-matic was goofy fun, but it was the rest of his material made him really stand out for me.
RIP Gallagher.
He was back from when comedy was just supposed to be fun; p.c. shit ruined most of that. I miss his stupid antics, there are an endless list of comedians that were just funny and said things that you might not agree with but you could laugh at regardless of politics and hurt feelings. I miss that, Dave Chappelle seems to not have given up the fight.RIP, I wish I had watermelon to smash in your honor.
He had a wonderful, mischievous smile! One of kind.
One wonders if early SNL really was that funny, or we were just baked to the eyeballs.
This guy was really funny.
RIP
I sat on the first row at one of his shows in Beaumont, Texas when I was much younger. The people we went with bought the tickets and thought it would be fun getting covered with watermelon parts. What do you know, all that stuff sailed over our heads and onto the crowd behind us. I’ve got to say, we had a great time. He was funny as hell. I got to talk to him afterwards. It was a beautiful theater with upholstered seats. He said he had to pay thousands to the theater for the cleaning bill before they let him do the show there. There was a very drunk heckler in the crowd with a beautiful date. He tore into that poor bastard without mercy. The whole crown was laughing at the ass-clown getting his ass handed to him. His date was mortified. He ended up having the guy thrown out and his date was seated with a guy there without a date. They seemed to be getting along pretty good as the night went on. Fun times were had by all.
^^^^ Except the ass-clown!
I always got a kick out of him cuz he was different!
RIP Gallagher.
(didn’t know his first name was Leo)
Funny funny guy! Made me laugh every time.
