SacBee: Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, the architect of an omnibus gun-control initiative to require background checks for ammunition, said Thursday that the campaign has collected enough signatures to qualify for the fall ballot.

My, what large guns your security team has…

Newsom said he plans to submit roughly 600,000 signatures for his “Safety for All,” initiative on Friday, far more than the required 365,000.

“I feel resolved to move forward. The voters I think are ahead of a lot of elected officials of all political stripes,” Newsom said of taking the issue to the ballot.

  1. Says the guy that had sex with his bestmans wife on the eve of his wedding. I got news for you asshole. All but three Sheriffs say they won’t enforce it. It’s unconstitutional.

  2. @Doc – it is done by computer algorithm – nothing personal
I am getting 1 from a local GMC dealer
1 for muslim singles – I kid you not
1 for hijabs from eastessence dot com
1 from ATT about Phone & TV bargains
    and 1 from Glock
the last being the only thing that I would be interested in

  3. I don’t understand, why do people like Obama, Clinton, Newsom, Pelosi, Reid, etc who are so beloved by the people need armed to the teeth (with big guns) bodyguards? A better petition and vote would be to eliminate all armed security teams for pretentious assholes. Equality for all!

  4. Considering how Balkanized most of California has become these days, I’d say this has an excellent chance of passing as it will be widely supported in the large liberal population centers like the Bay Area and LA which will overwhelm the rural counties in the rest of the State.

If passed this would pour gasoline on the Northern California secession movement as well, the residents of which probably have plenty of ammo on hand already…

  5. Chieftain, the only reason I want to see this passed is because it has “Spectacular Fail” wrote all over it and should serve as an excellent examples to other states when Bloomberg comes knocking.

  6. If this passes, I see a fun, exciting, and profitable career as a smuggler ahead.
