Gerber Done Good

Remember when we posted that Gerber chose a Down Syndrome baby to be their Gerber model?

There was mixed reaction. Gerber did good–

Gerber Baby Inspires Down Syndrome Abortion Bans Across The U.S.

DC-

Since Lucas took center stage, Down syndrome abortion bans have been introduced in Oklahoma, Missouri, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Utah.

Utah is considering HB205 — the Down Syndrome Nondiscrimination Abortion Act. The bill is intended to send a message of non-discrimination according to the measure’s sponsor, Rep. Karianne Lisonbee, who claims it will prevent eugenic-like tendencies, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

  1. I was one who originally thought like a capitalist and thought it was a bad move.
I know that to change minds perceptions are important. I missed what this could potentially do. No matter how minor, moving the ball in the other direction is worth supporting.

  2. An acquaintance thought his life was over when he and his wife found out their first born would be a Down Syndrome baby. Twelve months later, he felt like such a fool for being so full of self pity. His beautiful baby girl was the light of their lives. She was everything they’d dreamed of, and more. A few years (and another child) later, they are an incredibly happy family, full of love and looking forward to the future.

What an immense loss if they’d have terminated their first born. The self-pity about having a Downs child is waaaay
    more palatable than murder.

  3. What a cynical waste of kidney and liver tissue. I mean, that’s like 2 grand right there. Your priorities are so screwed.

  4. Okay, let me keep this all straight. It’s still okay to abort babies without Down Syndrome but some States are enacting laws to prohibit aborting babies with Downs?

How about enacting laws prohibiting all abortion? Regardless of the status of the child?

    Sanctity of life is PARAMOUNT!!!!

I firmly believe we can find God if we simply look for Him. He hides His Blessings in the most unusual places. The above article examines how Down Syndrome people have a factor that inhibits the development of new blood vessels in cancerous tumors. As in, a clue in how to stop the spread of cancer. Would we have ever found this if we indiscriminately aborted Down Syndrome babies?
